I've noticed that links that are incorrectly written seem to lead back to the thread rather than to the (usually easily guessable) URL. Is it possible to modify the behavior to enable the links to (usually) point to the right place?

Extremely minor pony request: After I use the "link" button in data entry boxes on "
Create a New Post" pages, the view shifts to the very beginning of the text in the box. (The scroll bar goes all the way back to the top.) I tend to create posts which have a lot of links in them that fill up those boxes quickly. To find my place after creating a link, I then need to scroll down within the box. Would it possible to not have that happen? Can the cursor and view be left at the end of the link that has just been added instead?

MeFi link filter: I'm a self-proclaimed newbie and have unsuccessfully tried to answer my question by skimming the FAQs and searching the site.
How do I compose links so that a mouseover displays the title of the link and the related URL, as it does in the following posting?

Two
little html touches can
really help make complex FPPs much better. I am convinced that more people would use them if they knew how. Any chance of mentioning these to prospective posters on the "New Post Page," if not actually incorporating them into the MeFi menus?

Small, but unlikely pony request: When a user creates a link to an external site, but forgets the "http://", a MeFi error page results. It would be helpful if the system scanned the links in a post and tried to detect these orphaned links.

Something odd happened when I tried to post
this comment. I got an error message, something about timing out. I hit back, preview and post again. And now it's a strange truncation.
Did I screw something up? Or is it just a MeFi glitch?

I'm new to this so I was wondering if someone could help me with posting a link in a thread. When the prompt comes up for the url, I copy and paste it. But when I preview it, it doesn't come out as a link but the whole thing with the brackets and all. (I don't know what you call that) I figured it would come out ok as the link when it was posted, but it didn't. Could someone please tell me with what I'm doing wrong?

Following a link from
mini-wetlog I found a bug where MeTa throws up an error when given a bad link. In this case a quote on the end of the URL:

I have recently noticed that when I put my cursor on some links, like the one
here, after a second or two I get a balloon briefly describing the link. Since I am an HTML novice I figure this is an added tag that I do not know. Can someone fill me in?
