Is it really necessary to have more than one logout link when you are posting a comment or post? I refer to the
Posting as: [username] (logout) right above the post textbox. More than once recently I have been aiming for the textbox with the mouse and clicked on the logout link by mistake. (Why anyone would actually want to log out of Metafilter is beyond me, but also fodder for a different post.)
Seriously, once a page up at the top is enough, no? Logging out should be a deliberate act.

Rhomboid asked
this question about a link on the blue which switched from liveleak to YouTube. I'm curious about this as well, and a little ... concerned? Anybody know what's up there?

To people who have done this;
why did you create Front Page Post(s) on MetaFilter? The motivations are interesting in themselves, and may also provide positive reasons for people to cross the rubicon
from lurker to poster.

So, I made a
post last week and now the main link (the only one above the "more inside") is broken. It's a youtube video that was apparently removed by the copyright holder. What is normally done in these situations? Do y'all summarily delete? Ignore? Is it at all possible (or even worth it) to re-work the post?

Remember when someone made that quiz about MetaFilter members on that website where you can make quizes? Can I get that link again? Just the main site works too since that's what I really want.

Back in November of 2007 I came across
jonson’s
fpp about
Geoff Manaugh’s
blog post on a photographer named
Shaun O’Boyle. I really liked the photographs, and sometimes my job allows me to develop a book. So I did. Kind of about that link. I asked Geoff Manaugh to write the
intro to the book, and he said yes, and then he surprisingly
cited an unrelated Metafilter
comment in the essay he submitted.

Long shot - looking for a (flash?) link that was posted a couple (several?) months ago in the blue. All I remember: inside.

I'm looking for a sire mentioned on metailter or askmefi long ago. It was a site designed for people looking to build their vocabulary (or people who just like words). It allows a user to keep lists of words on the site and links to definitions. Users can also view lists created by other users. This seems like it would be relatively easy to find but I am striking out. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
Thanks!

I'm looking for a link that I'm pretty sure I found on MeFi, but searches are failing me. It was an all Flash site with a series of videos and documents connected together as a sort of flowchart. Viewing each of these revealed portions of a mystery. Videos were displayed on a cube, with different camera angles on different sides of the cube. Anyone remember what I'm talking about? Thanks.

Why are there two places to click? Why does the "[more inside]" link point to the same place as the "XX comments" link?

Idea: the Metafilter link-checker. Take the part of the 'new post' process that double-checks against prior posts, add the part of Mefi that conjures up the related posts, put a link to the feature up on the two lines of links near the logo.

I think it was here that I came across a great webpage listing forum trolling techniques that read like an academic listing of informal logic fallacies. It had things like finding errors in small and irrelevant details, ad-hominem attacks, using provocative and loaded terms, shifting claims, concern trolling etc... I've looked for it several times recently and can't find it. Anybody remember the link?

What do I need to do so that links in AskMeFi open in a new page, instead of taking me away from AskMeFi? Links on pages from other sites do.

Anyone else see that Neatorama linked to the oval office desk post? Though they don't really give credit where credit is due.

Within the past few months someone posted a link to either a graph or (an article containing a graph) that showed that GDP calculated within a few months of the time period in question bears no relation (no statistical correlation) to GDP calculated with more complete non-estimated data two years down the line. I would like to find this graph.

Is there a way to link to a comment only? For a blog, for instance. A bonus for certain comments who have over 100 favorites maybe.

Very short question. Why does it say 'X
new links' when most posts here don't have links? Shouldn't it say 'X new posts or X new flameouts/hugesexismthreads/podcasts'?

Small request: could we have a link to our userpage (ala the "

x / logout" seen on the mefi/ask/metatalk homepages) on post comment pages (and possibly all deeper pages) as well as on the front pages?

I download what I imagine might be legally construed as "copyrighted material" all thie time. But I'm actually upset with this post because I know some people that worked on
US v. John Lennon. (Double standard, I know.) So are there any guidelines about posting full-length, copyrighted movies? Is this post this even in good taste? Where's the context? Does it have
any intent other than to illegally distribute a movie? Is this even a problem?

So, I was all set to take the survey which is mentioned at AskMe (
right-hand side, under the list tags/post block)
"MetaFilter Readers. Support this site and its advertisers by participating in a brief survey: questionmarket.com."
Unfortunately, this is the result when clicking on the link: "The website you're looking for cannot be found. The website may no longer exist, or may have moved."
