I'd like to update the in-jokes page on the MeFi wiki
. So what in-jokes are missing? [more inside]
I've seen a few comments recently claiming or intimating that "HURF DURF" originated here, and I would like to set the record straight on this extremely trivial matter. [more inside]
In case you haven't noticed, the cat scan
thread is back. It'll be back again, I'm sure, in a year. And you know what that requires? [more inside]
Is there interesting MetaFilter history that newcomers wouldn't know about, but might find interesting? [more inside]
Does this count as an eponysterical comment?
Also, don't worry. A little panty flash now and again is just the sort of thing an easy spirit hip chick on a cruiser like you could be okay with.

Okay, I give up. What does "this will not wendell" actually mean?
Not everything that tastes great is PepsiBlue! [more inside]
How to stop the spread of "_____Filter" in subject headings?
The wiki says (under the heading "inside jokes") that "___Filter" is used to indicate that a topic is so over-discussed as to risk taking over MetaFilter altogether. Examples are IraqFilter and NewsFilter. But current (and increasing) usage seems to be just an effort to be cute: BSDMFilter, CondomFilter, UmbrellaFilter, etc. I, for one, find this annoying and stupid and think it should be discouraged. It's like one of those things that is mildly amusing the first couple of times and thereafter just idiotic. I think that the WhatIsAGoodPost, WhatIsAGoodComment, WhatIsAGoodQuestion entries should be altered to discourage people from this dumb practice.
Matt, can you ban this guy
? Or at least tell him to knock it off? He has posted the same lame in-joke over and over sixteen times.
A questionable joke (in terms of humor, not [I think] taste) was edited out of my post
. I'm not questioning the decision, I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to email or otherwise message to the poster saying "I edited your post because..." so that we can all learn and do better next time.
What is the origin of this Pepsi Blue nonsense?
Please excuse my newbie question:
Who is quonsar? And why is he always referred on so many MeFi posts?

Is there a lexicon--on or offsite--of commonly used idioms hereabouts?
'Snarky' comes to mind, a word to which I took an instant disliking but the exact meaning of which still eludes me. Not being on the Net 'since we were programming Univacs with punch cards--or abaci with cuneiform tablets--etc.' and all that, it would be nice to know common usages...
I await the instant jpoulos response.
I, for one, and ZippitySick of ZippityBop.
Could someone explain the pancake thing
