At a recent MeFi regional campout, there was some discussion about the need for the ability to post campouts that can somehow be regional. As in, it would have been helpful for this campout to be announced to IRL-interested folks who live in Portland, Seattle, and areas of eastern WA and OR, people who might not have their IRL radius set very wide because they mostly want to do local meets, but a big annual thing like this might be of interest even if it involves travel. I have a proposed IRL event that never happened & I'd like an easier way to delete it than contacting the mods. This has been discussed before & I like the suggestion from that thread to add a "never happened" category, which was never implemented. Is this possible/desirable?
Pony request: an option to opt out of IRL posts that come up on a regular basis. [more inside]
Can we have a way to optionally restrict the visibility of a meetup location to the participants who've confirmed their attendance? Or to at least limit the visibility to logged-in mefites? Currently there's no way to, for example, announce a house party without the whole world seeing where the host lives.
I have my profile set to receive notifications of IRL meetups within 100 miles, but I would also like to get notified about proposed meetups within the same distance. Who knows, maybe adding one more person can shift it from "proposed" to "let's do this thing."
Hello all :) I would like to post a meetup event. I am new to Halifax (Nova Scotia) and several AskMeFi responses suggested this as a good way to make friends. I would like to know the behavior Metafilter participants expect of the "hosts" ... More inside ... [more inside]
For those of you wondering what the status of the Camp MeFi project is, please pull a log up to the crackling fire. Full update inside. [more inside]
An automated reminder or some way to export the meetup item to iCal/gCal would be helpful. I've actually forgotten about two recent meetups (sorry, all), and am thinking that some form of reminder would be helpful for these kinds of things. All opt-in, of course; wouldn't want anyone being hit w/ spam. Thanks!
It might be handy if recent activity would say who is attending and maybe attending IRL events. [more inside]
I was recently off Metafilter for a bit and missed it. While thinking about how awesome Metafilter is I got the idea about having a place in real life that was Metafilter related. Maybe a bench in a public park somewhere with a plaque that says it was donated by Metafilter? Or a tree? I bet we could come up with some cool ideas. It'd be so fun to travel there and take a picture with THE METAFILTER in real life. Or does a place like that already exist? There are so many of us who truly value this site, maybe some would be willing to contribute towards a small offline presence? Any thoughts?
Pitrified (aka Theresa Warner). Cheer her on as she makes her hometown of Alton, MO proud. Check your local listings. Sorry for the late notice!
A small feature request for IRL: a (private if necessary) list of meetups you have marked as having attended. [more inside]
As someone who frequently posts IRL events, I'd really love if, when I previewed the post, the page told me about other meetups on that day within a 50 mile radius of my location. It would be awesome, because then I could say, "Oh, so-and-so is having their ice cream meetup that afternoon; I'll just make the post for the next week instead." It would also have the benefit of showing me events that might be outside the radius I've set for my own personal IRL notifications, but that might still be in range for attendees. What do you think? Would other IRL posters appreciate such a feature?
Hey folks. So I realize that I don't even look at meet-ups anymore because I don't drink. So I just wanted to promote the idea of a Brooklyn or NYC or whatever area non-barhopping meet-up. Have a favorite coffeehouse or less snooty spot that you dig? A non-drinking-centric hole in the wall or other like thing? [more inside]

Episode 81 was recorded yesterday (Monday June 3) and runs about 90 minutes, covering our favorite bits from the entire site. [more inside]
A few weeks ago we had a discussion about adding MeFi Mail alerts to IRL when an event is updated. We have some proposed changes that we think could help keep everyone informed if an IRL event is updated. [more inside]
Is it possible to get a memail if there have been date/time/location changes to an IRL event they've RSVP'd to? And as an extension, possibly a notification when a proposed event is confirmed? [more inside]

The Kiva team is now 301 members and $73,000ish of total lending. As a purely online lender pool it has maintained its position in the top five lending clubs for three-and-a-half years. It has been enshrined as the second most successful campaign for Kiva, but it has stopped growing. What could be next? Should it keep going? [more inside]
If I meet someone whose unusual real name I recognize from their profile, is it creepy to say "hey, I think I know you from Metafilter"? Or is it Not to Be Mentioned, like meeting one's therapist on the street?
IRL alerts still buggy? I proposed a Los Angeles meetup earlier today, and just received a MeMail from a fellow L.A. Mefite to tell me that he didn't receive the usual IRL notification. [more inside]
Bug? At last night's meetup in Hollywood, multiple attendees remarked that they did not get an IRL alert even though they've enabled it and have (sometimes) gotten alerts in the past. (More than half of the attendees showed because I memailed them about it.)

Pony-on-the-go request: Can we get a link to photos for a given meetup on the mobile IRL site? I know this was discussed as a potential addition when IRL was first rolled out, but I haven't been able to find any mention of it since then.

IRL Pony Request: Slightly more event information in Recent Activity. [more inside]
Weekly meetups in IRL? I want to do something in Brooklyn with the same venue and time, on the same day of the week. Is there any functionality for this? Or is the solution to just post the same thing over and over?
