Where can I start a discussion without actually linking to something? I want to talk about Katrina ad my opinion on it, on a different slant -- but I don't really think it is good enough for the blue. But I still want to talk with other people from MeFi...

An opinion on Katrina... on a different slant?

Katrina makes me want to get my slant on, too.

The Baltimore meetup is this Saturday. Come on down, Andrea Azure, you're the next contestant on Drunken Slant Challenge.

Well, since you've posted this now, how about letting us know what your 'different slant' is right here? I'm intrigued. Well, a little bit.

Almost anywhere on the internet!

Um, is there something that keeps you from posting it in one of the many Katrina-related threads currently on the front page?

MeCha? IRC? Katrina thread? GYOB?

Andrea, I see you have your own site. Why not put something up there and end the "under construction" hiatus?

come to MetaChat and start a new post, definitely. We don't require links.

My site is probably going to end up as the "professional/personal" site, as opposed to the "Andrea is talking, discussing and ranting" site.

OK, MetaChat - duh. After almost a year, can I still be a n00b?

I wanted to post somewhere HERE because of the community HERE. I have a blog -- well, had one.

The slant: anger over the stubbornness of people who thought they could/should "ride it out." (Note: not those too poor/sick/elderly to leave... though I have commentary there as well.)

I still don't get it.

If we don't have a right to be angry at people who were too stupid to leave when they heard a Category 5 storm was approaching, then we have no right to be angry at anyone ever.

"too stupid"

It was their own choice, and they bare the responsibility... Wha makes you think that any of the ones who stayed were not to sick/poor/elderly to leave?

... or even still have an internet connection?

The vast majority of those who stayed did so against their will. Only a few blowhards actually DECIDED to stay. The poor of New Orleans were abandoned to drown.

So, tell me, just how do you bus New Orleans (pop. 484,674) somewhere, anywhere, with just a few days notice?
