Matt, I wouldn't bring it up again (having that it was mentioned about two weeks ago), but I didn't see a post from you in the thread to say you'd seen it.

The post comment button doesn't (causing a couple double posts) it posts, but doesn't update the browser.

Preview, then post works.

The formatting info area is missing too...no bold, italics or, annoyingly links I can use other software to quickly write it (as I hate writing html by hand), but you should know that it's missing.

P.S. Getting on the Opera bandwagon from their 10th anniversary was great. It's an amazing browser.

Also on the Opera side of things - not necessarily a problem that's Metafilter's fault, but a problem that occurs on Metafilter and other Opera users might have a solution. Opera seems very liberal with its use of its cache - when visiting the Metafilter front page or specific posts, Opera usually gives me an old version of the page rather than reloading it, so I have to do the "Shift-Reload" trick all the time. Any Opera users know what cache settings can fix this up and make it behave a bit more like, well, Firefox?

Under Advance-History change check documents to "Always".

I jumped on the Opera bandwagon with the free release last week too, but I just jumped off as it was always randomly hanging on loading websites no matter what I did to the cache and network settings. Firefox just works for me.
But Opera rawks otherwise . . . don't beat me up.

I've been using Opera all along. I find that if you preview your comment (always a good idea for me anyways) you have no trouble posting. Monkeyfilter always worked this way for me - maybe it's Opera's secret "force you to preview" feature.

On preview: yeah, I'm previewing.

hm. my "post comment" button works, but it pretends it doesn't -- if i just look at the live preview and then post, it'll never return; i press ESC and then reload the page. i'm using opera 8.0 build 7561 (i guess i should upgrade to 8.02). and indeed, i see no formatting info -- oh noes, what thrills are being denied me?! heck, i managed to guess how to link, so all is well.

i am absurdly loyal to opera. :)

As I write this, blue is seriously messed up in Opera. Stylesheets are hosed and the form workflow is quite...odd. Does this mean somebody's working on it?

(Details: The "post comment" behavior is similar, but different, from teh way it did work in that reloading the page doesn't produce the results it used to. Formatting is reduced to browser-defaults -- e.g., for me, all white with large Gill Sans type. The pages don't seem to be getting closed -- the status bar never clears. That may be going on in other browsers, too, and just not as obvious.)

"You don't really think we'd use Opera, do you? C'mon!"

Oh, thank God. I was concerned there for a moment.
