Request for option to unmark "best answer" in Ask Metafilter October 17, 2005 7:57 AM Subscribe
An ability to unmark "Best Answer", I have on several instances accidently clicked the link (it's such a big target). Even a confirmation page would stop this from occuring, I'm not alone right?
Confirmation screen would be good.

I third a confirmation page. I made this mistake once - I think I was trying to click the username of the answerer and just spaced out. Dumb mistake, but it happens.

No confirmation page, but an unmark link will be added. I hate confirmation pages -- less clicks = easier to use.

Interesting, I didn't realize there was no confirmation page. That might explain why a deleted answer sometimes gets flagged as "best" -- people clicking the "best answer" link instead of the "[!]".

"unmark" link just added and seems to be working as expected.

Not quite as expected (I assume), as your thread still has a tick mark on the main screen, although there is now no post marked as Best...

ah, I messed up a bit of code on the unmarking function. It should remove the best answer checks from the home page going forward (geoff. if you check and uncheck an answer, it should clear off the answer flag).

Wait, you hate confirmation pages and we had comment preview for that long? Replaced by a thing that lets us see what we're typing as we are typing it?

How long have we had a "fantastic answers" page? Or, how amazingly unobservant am I really?

Also, I'm sometimes less inclined to click on an AskMe thread with a best-answer check next to it, thinking, 'Oh, someone's already given the answer.'
But really, why are you clicking all over the page anyway?
