I thought these were some great ideas from duck on how to turn a random interesting thought into a good FPP. (The now-infamous 'mushroom' FPP itself is discussed elsewhere)

Now how do we turn this random interesting thought into a good MeTa thread?

Well, a callout would be nice. Gentleman's debate to Godwinized flamewar in 5 post or less, perhaps. Maybe some paranoid schizophrenia disguised as helpful chime-in. Or a good bout of haphazard apologetics. But what this thread really needs is a portobello mushroom recipe.

Shut up you fucking Nazi whore.

Oh, wait, that's not a portobello recipe. Sorry.

I like doing slicing up some portobellos and marinating them in some original flavor Soy Vey with sprinklings of soy sauce, and then grilling or roasting them lightly and serving them on a bed of wild rice pilaf with diced crimini mushrooms stirred into it.

That's one out of five, well done. You might also like to know that everyone is aware of your stalking me thru the front page headlines of the Village Voice. Now, let's see you do that recipe.

Wait, I thought you were stalking me. I'm confused.

I'm ashamed to say this, but I lost my copy of the topographical master stalking list.

I gave up like a year ago and just started stalking quonsar, since I can get to almost everyone else through him anyway. He's like Jesus, but with better connections and more gin.

duck - that article you mention sounds interesting. following the link took me to a sign-in page (and bugmenot.com didn't help) with no mention of an article author or title. It looks like it's in a Jan. '96 issue, so I guess I can look for that if I ever get to a library....unless you have another link....
