I've really been enjoying Jonson's links for some time now. I don't know where you get the time to find them all... but thanks!

Whew... I don't know whether to be happy or just ticked off that I'm not on his list... but fine job on the posts. Makes this place just that much better.

It's nice to see MetaFilter commending a user's contributions.

Holy shit!

Personally, I just thought it was hilarious. To think it was actually meant seriously is absurd. Nonetheless, it does appear that jonson thought you meant something by it... Or maybe he was just trying to be doubly ironic, I mean jonson's list of users is not offensive, so...

This should probably end here, I'm sure it has been discussed to death already, sorry I brought it back to life on you!

Jonson's a big prick and I hate him.

Wait, wrong thread.

no he's not. let it go, please.
posted by andrew cooke at 5:35 AM on November 14, 2005

Holy shit, that is phenomenal.

Jonson and others, where do you find this stuff? I find myself just starting out with a subject and then gathering links to form some sort of ultrashort fly-over narrative. Or occasionally an oddball link, especially if I see one on a Dutch site that hasn't yet been beaten to death on the English-language megablogs.

Bonus follow-up question: this is silly, but how can I help myself remember to actually post good finds to MeFi? Like I mentioned in the Overheard in NYC thread, I sometimes have trouble with that.

Jonson loves dogs. Some people don't love dogs. It's just the way the universe works. With smaller spheres of various levels of translucence and specularity rolling about on much larger spheres with funny looking green parts on 'em.

Thanks for the links jonson!

andrew cooke, I know he's not I was trying to be funny.

greasy_skillet was emulating the "whoops, wrong thread" meme which is my favorite new Metafilter trend (seriously). I can't find the links right now, but it's happened twice in the past week, and it's made me chuckle both times. Thanks for the callout, loq, I've been trying to remember to post more often over the past six months or so. As for the user page, since I haven't updated it in three years or so, perhaps it's time it just came down.

P.S. I do love dogs though, that's true. When I was a teenager, my mom mentioned in passing that a stranger left some hamburger with ground glass in it for her beloved dog to eat, which it did, followed by an agonizing death. When I asked her why, she responded "I don't know, I can only imagine it barked too much, or maybe it had snapped at them when they walked by. Maybe they just hate dogs." By all accounts, Andrew Cooke is a great person, his comment just set something off in me.

Some people don't love dogs.

Yes, it's sad, indeed. We call such people clinically "batshit insane."

jonson is teh coolest because, while he likes dogs, he loves pugs. And pugs are quite simply the greatest source of unconditional happiness.

And thanks for the links, jonson.

dios, it must be true what they say about people getting more right wing as they age, because I find myself agreeing with you more & more ;-)

Blimey, cheers jonson - I don't tend to notice who's posting what, but if there was ever an argument for per-user RSS feeds, you're it.

Uh, that's the strangest compliment I've ever given.

The question goes beyond scintillating posts? How does he find the time for hours of surfing, billiards, poker and practical jokes? Perhaps, he never sleeps. It is true I have never seen him sleeping at his desk.

It should be mentioned that offmylawn is my boss. Really more of a patron, in the Renaissance sense of the word.

jonson's OK in my book, but his fixation on those poor dogs that were bred to suffer a life of snorting and drooling really has me confused.

Fie! Blasphemy! Your just another anti-pugite. My experience with such people are that they never have spent time around pugs or that they have suffered a head injury in a high speed auto race accident. Which are you, rev_crash_davis?

FYI: Your is puggenese for "you are."
posted by dios at 9:48 AM on November 14, 2005

My father and his wife have a pug, and it's the most pathetic creature I've ever had the misfortune to be around. All the snuffling and snorting and drooling is just nauseating, and then it looks up at you with those sad little bug-eyes as if it were pleading with you to kill it and put it out of its barely-able-to-breathe misery. I bet if there's a heaven for dogs, the pug section has a place where they're allowed to torture the cruel humans who intentionally bred them to lead such a lamentable existence on earth.

I'm confused. Are you saying jonson sucks because his posts are so good? Are you saying jonson is breaking guidelines by having good links? Are you saying he should be banned because of this? I'm not entirely certain what you are trying to say, loquacious

jonson hates the yellow people.

And by yellow people i mean the Simpsons!
