It looks like affiliate links will be the next no-no that goes in the guidelines. Does anyone have any objections to that?
(I know my original paypal post was straddling/crossing an etiquette line already, but grumblebee's "gimmie $5" post was a bit too much)

while it's not in great taste to do any affiliate junk, i would of imagined it would of been better for you (grumblebee) to have posted a direct link to paypal first (knowing that is the link most people click on) as opposed to offering a direct link afterward.

Can't argue with that, sikk. You're right.

(In my defence, it looked worse that it was: I had NO idea that there was a big post about paypal on MeFi already, and I was totally shocked and embarrassed when I saw it.
I try to read every post on MeFi before I write anything, but sometimes I slip up. I think someone suggested a new feature in which the program would tell you if you were about to post a pre-posted URL. I would LOVE such a feature!
But I realize that your main objection was not my double posting, but rather my asking for a handout. Which I knew was in bad taste the second after I clicked the POST button.
I was going to apologize, but by that time Matt had already removed my post. I really thought I was sharing something new and cool, and I didn't really expect $5 from anyone, either, which is why I posted an alternative link and was up front about the $5 thing in my post.
When my post vanished, I wasn't sure what had happened. Obviously, Matt deleted it--which I agree was a good idea--but at the time I thought it was a network glitch or something.
I bring this up, because a couple of weeks ago, I posted something to MetaTalk with a bunch of suggestions, and it also vanished. Was that deleted too? If so, why? I can't think of anything offensive about it.)
