Any chance that coComment support could be added? February 8, 2006 10:58 AM   Subscribe

[pony] Any chance that coComment support could be added to to ?(ask.|metatalk.|projects.)metafilter.com? RSS feeds of comment responses sure would be spiffy. Instructions are here.

We have the functionality here, with My Comments, but I could certainly give this a try.

Wow, completly missed My Comments. What I'd specifically love is an RSS feed of further responses to thread's I've commented in - which is what coComment specifically provides. And the ablity to republish my snarky mefi comments on my blog would just make my day :)

It would be nice if coComment was in open public beta first.

I just added the cocomment script to metafilter comment pages, and tried my bookmarklet on one comment I just made. There's nothing in my account yet.

If you need an invite code, just drop your email and about 24 hours later they will send you one. I got mine this morning.

Same here - nothing yet. I tried it a little while ago and got a 'this page does not support coComment' error message. That didn't appear this time, so maybe the comments are just slow to appear.

Thanks for the pony though, hope it ends up working! :)

Thanks Matt. I assumed it was more closed than that.

I'm trying to get it to work. I just submitted a bug report with them so hopefully it'll work soon.

Rounded corners (check)
Blazing bright colours (check)
Big, cute fonts (check)
Use of the word "blogosphere" without irony (check)
Describes comments as "value you create on other's blog" (check)

Jimbob wants no part of this.

(Although he would like just an RSS feed of all the comments he makes on Metafilter for inclusion on his supr.glu page.)

(Scratch that, I've just found it.)

Grrrr... I requested an invitation earlier, just got it, and discovered that CoComment doesn't use challenge-response verification of email addresses before activating new accounts. (In other words, rather that allowing you to sign up and then sending you an email you need to act on before your account is active, they just let you enter any ol' email address and assume that it really is yours.) I hate sites that do this -- to me, it shows a lack of planning and a lack of respect for the 'net on the whole (since it allows people to start spamming others by signing them up for unwanted web shit), and I'd have to assume that it permeates other aspects of the site as well.

I'm still awaiting my coComment invite, looks pretty handy (er, assuming every single site I comment on decides to implement the coComment code...)

What I'd specifically love is an RSS feed of further responses to thread's I've commented

MetaRSS does that, pretty much.

Also, these instructions to make a comment form coComment-compatable are a wee bit easier to follow than the ones posted above, if anyone's interested.
