Why is Metafilter "taking a massage" in Firefox? February 14, 2006 3:07 AM   Subscribe

Why is Metafilter "taking a massage" when I try to view the page on Firefox, but works perfectly fine when I view it in Internet Explorer? I should add that before this morning, Metafilter always worked fine in Firefox. And, despite MeFi's problems, AskMe and MeTa are working fine in Firefox right now.

Stranger still... I just decided to try accessing MeFi direct to a thread URL in my URL history, and it works, but MeFi is still "taking a massage" in Firefox if I try to access the main page direct.

Try a Shift-Refresh. It's working fine for me on Fireweasel.

That worked. Thanks.

In my defence, it didn't work when I tried that myself before.

I think this massage notice is a bad idea. If MeFi gets a massage every time there's problems, it'll start crashing itself on purpose. It's like an addiction.

even worse, what's going to happen if the cops bust the massage parlor? no more MeFi?

Does the massage come with a happy ending?

There seems to be some issue with how static pages are cached by firefox and how active pages from the database server come up. A shift-reload will force you to grab the new stuff, but it happened to me yesterday, with the temp mefi is down page showing up until I forced a refresh.
