Jabber server return date?

What's the ETA for the MetaFilter Jabber Server coming back up?

Lemme keep it offline for another day. There are still some server issues to work out.

I was just about to ask if it was offline, 'cause my Adium has been crapping out with wholly uninformative error messages.

Now I know. :)

Anyone get it to work with Adium?

I general, I can get it to work with Adium, when it's up. I use version 0.87 and I use the IP address of the server 70.86.84.162 instead of the URL (if there is one).

Adium works perfectly fine for me, when the server is up.

Instructions:

1. Drop Adium into your Applications folder. Start Adium.

2. Adium > Preferences > Accounts > +Jabber.

3. Account > Jabber ID = your|[e-mail], using | in place of spaces.
4. Account > Password = your mefi password.

5. Personal = picture + your alias.

6. Options > Connect Server = metafilter.com.
7. Options > [others] = leave as defaults.

8. Privacy > Encryption = Encrypt automatically.

9. Preferences > Advanced > Encryption > Private Keys > Generate.

And that should basically do the trick. Maybe you have to open up a port on your router to get past its firewall, but that's outside Adium's functionality & setup.

It still won't connect me(Using Gaim) - is it still be tinkered on, or am I, y'know, not cool enough... ?

Don't answer that last one, please!

The jabber server is still offline, so it won't connect you because of this. I'll update this thread once it's back up and running.
