MetaTalk Header and Categories [more inside]

Might we consider changing this:

"MetaTalk is a discussion area for topics specific to MetaFilter itself, ranging from bug reports to feature requests to questions of content. The posts are sorted by date, and tagged by category."

to something like this:

"MetaTalk is a discussion area for topics that range from MetaFilter-related, to bug reports to feature requests to uptime to questions of content to gatherings and meetups to MetaFilter Music. Posts are sorted by date."

I left out general weblog-related and the ticketstub project. Any copy editors out there?

Minor thing, but a good idea, I'd say. The last two categories are vestigial limbs, anyway (as is Mefi Music).

I didn't know about the ticketstub project. What year are those entries from, anyway?

all those "to"s dressing it up as a sentence seems unnecessary; to go that route, I'd like it better as a list:

"MetaTalk is an area for discussion concerning the site itself. Topic include: foo ~ bar ~ baz ~ etc"

I like my vestigial bits, thank you kindly.

cortex: I'd like it better as a list

Since the intent is to make the category pages more accessible and a list might be more appropriate, perhaps a list of in the sidebar similar to AskMe might be an alternative approach. Especially if new catogories were to be added at a later date.

Great idea (I'll drop the mefi music mention).

"MetaTalk is a discussion area for topics including things MetaFilter-related, bug reports, feature requests, uptime, questions of content and gatherings and meetups. Posts are sorted by date."

Can we add a subject entirely to sassing hoopy froods?

Nobody here is sufficiently hoopy.

Is accuracy the goal? in that case...

"MetaTalk is a discussion area for topics that range from MetaFilter-related, to bug reports to feature requests to uptime to questions of content to gatherings and meetups to MetaFilter Music to calling people out for some real or perceived violation of protocol, and a subsequent discussion of the relative merits of flagging it and moving on, postings that are generally just attempts to draw attention to oneself, grumbly posts about how it's all gone to the dogs, self-congratulatory posts about how awesome we still are, spammer-spotting, troll baiting, and posts and questions that just don't have any place on the main page or AskMe but somebody (you KNOW who you are) decides that they just gotta discuss them here. Oh, and people who are hell-bent to crash and burn for some reason usually choose to wrap the self-immolation up in these parts. Posts are sorted by date."

Yeah, as long as we're changing the intro, why don't we throw a dios callout up there. It seems like it'd just be more efficient to hard-code it.
