Policy on single link product FPPs July 7, 2006 11:27 AM   Subscribe

This is a bad post. I don't dislike single FPPs, but a single link that points to a single product for sale on the internet, with no extra information or interesting stuff...is not in any way showing the best of the internet. There are hundreds of these for sale from all sorts of companies, and they've been around for a long, long time.

To top it all off, I question that and my post (containing one word: "Spamfilter?") was apparently removed. I can deal with that, but the issue at heart still exists.

Thing that works in the dark powered by the light = mild harmless ha-ha

It's a goofball silly little post on a friday afternoon. I think people should lighten up and let a little jokey post float by without having to analyze it to death.

"Spamfilter?" sounded ridiculous, it's just a light-hearted goof.

You're deleting mild criticism of crappy posts now?

Clearly huskerdont is a member of the solar-powered flashlight street team. These people are ruining the internet.

it wasn't funny. the penalty is chastisement and analysis...to the death

I delete pointless mentions of spam and pepsiblue all the time because they're annoying derails that should be reserved for truly over the top promotional posts trying to sell a product.

Clearly, this is a plot by the Illuminate-us.

The Stonecutters have been trying to keep this miracle technology out of our hands for too long! It's time to fight back, throw off the batteries to which you are shackled! Join the revolution!

Seriously, if we're talking about terribly crafted, single-link posts to CNN.com that editorialize and suck ass, look no further than this gem posted by our resident cynic, mischief. Although I think ColdChef's joke may have single-handedly saved it (I swear I feel really, really bad for laughing, but man, funny shit).

I agree with Matt, and I disagree with SeizeTheDay: mischief's post was horribly framed and a lot of the discussion is awful, but I'm still glad it was posted. I had no idea that was going on.

This is a single-link MeTa FPP. Please try to flesh it out a little with at least a google search. And refrain from editorializing, already.

MetaFilter: The plastic.com where it's okay to editorialize in your posts.

We need to have a daily door prize for the first person who's link gets called out but not deleted.

Kickstart70 posted "is not in any way showing the best of the internet"

Please, please, please let the "this isn't the best of the internet..." whining die the slow, uncomfortable death it so richly deserves.
