Has Matt considered licensing the Mefi code to interested parties? October 27, 2001 3:12 PM   Subscribe

As a revenue stream, has Matt considered licensing the Mefi code to interested parties who might want to set up a subject specific version at their own sites? The grandest thing about all this are speed and flexibility, a gift in comparisson to the message boards offered elsewhere...

ummm, there is a ton of mostly free code out there already that does this sort of thing (ben brown's discuss, slashcode, etc)

you might not find the exact mefi feature set, but you dont have to pay for it either, and it doesn't require coldfusion server ($$$)

feelinglistless: scroll down the About page to "Supporting Metafilter":

"If you'd like to partner with MetaFilter, license the code, buy it outright, or hire me to build a similar site, email me and we can discuss terms".

There's a lot of other interesting stuff there too.
