RSS Feeds August 14, 2006 9:14 PM Subscribe
Per-thread RSS feeds? I'd like to subscribe to my own Axings, especially the one I just made which is unlikely to get very many answers.
If you go to your profile and look next to where is says how many questions you've asked, you will find your feed.

tellurian-it's a feed for the answers to my AskMe questions? Or just of the questions I've asked? The latter is useless to me; I'm asking for the former. I want to subscribe specifically to the answers that might appear on the thread I just posted.

Ooops! I see you said 'per-thread'. I'll shutup now.

I don't think it can be done. It would be too complicated, it would probably involve some kitten / bunny sacrifice.

This has been asked for MANY MANY TIMES. And I found at least one reference where Matt says he plans on doing it eventually.

For now, you can use coComment. They have a handy Firefox extension now, as well as bookmarklets. And also, yes, you can subscribe to an RSS feed of comments made in threads you've commented in and marked as "watching".

Let's see how well coComment works in Opera. Looks like it might work.

I was about to suggest MetaRSS, but it appears to have gone tits up (which is a shame, it was incredibly handy).
co.mments is an alternative to coComment, and in my experience works a bit better (eg. I just added this thread to both services and coComment failed to display any of the comments left so far in the thread...)

co.mments works perfectly, much less hassle then the cocomment.

jack_mo, MetaRSS hasn't gone away. It was just down while Dreamhost had some major problems with the server it was hosted on. I've just brought it back up.

Not many answers needed eh! and how amazing is Ask MetaFilter.
Oh! and bigmusic - kitten / bunny sacrifice. No problem, fire up the spit and BBQ. My half-sister recently sent me a combined ritual singalong and consumption of sacrifical items pamphlet and a bottle of kickass chilli sauce (not related).
