Where the heck is the MeFi compilation CD? September 16, 2006 8:20 AM   Subscribe

Where the heck is the MeFi compilation CD? I shelled out my hard-earned cash months ago, and I haven't heard jack squat about it since. C'mon...is this Chinese Democracy or something?

This is, in fact, Chinese Democracy.

Also, we're really, really working on it.

Hi, cortex!

Hat!

Also, you can keep (relatively) up to date at meficomp.com, which I update when there's actual news. We're still last-minuting the art.

A lot of the hang-up is my fault, and I apologize. It took me forever to do the art for the inside, and—as it turns out—I shouldn't have flattened some stuff, so there's sort of a problem with getting everything the right size for printing without it looking like mud.

It's really, really being worked on, by cortex and another guy or two. Really.

God I love how people get once they've parted with some cash. Doesn't it just fill you with the joy of making music?

This is worth doing right. Take your time, folks.

I didn't mean to be shrill (hence my use of the jocular term "jack squat" and Chinese Democracy joke)...anyway, thanks to those of you who answered my question.

I shelled out my cash, and I am happy to wait until cortex is done, because, you know, this ain't Amazon.com.

I bought it with the understanding that it was subject to whatever force majeure was currently affecting cortex's (and others') availability, and besides which, it's part of that je ne sais quoi that comes with purchasing fine, hand-crafted goods via the Intarweb.

Again, this ain't Amazon.com. If you (pre)bought the MeFiComp CD without realizing that, and without reading the prior threads, I submit to you that the emptor didn't caveat.

waits for hat to correct my abuse of Latin

Isn't the MF compilation CD and the swap, two separate things? I'm confused.

This ain't amazon.com? Why have I been paying cortext $24.95 a month for Metafilter Prime? Two day shipping, my ass!

I think we're entering Lindsey Buckingham/Tusk territory here. Cortex took the money and bought a mansion in LA and tons of coke. He snorted most of it, became a raging paranoiac, and decided the songs themselves were decent but what they really needed were some dramatic overhauls in arrangement, like bringing in the USC marching band on a few tracks.

Anyways, I'm pretty sure that's what happened.

I've also gotten Brian Wilson involved.

Just don't invite that Charlie Manson dude over. He's a weirdo.

What's your secret? I only managed one, & I bet he's probably back under some sock puppet account. Poor willpower, that one.

'Cause I don't have any money down on this cd. So, y'know, indifference abounds in mulpland.
