In search of "DIABEETUS" November 4, 2006 11:20 PM   Subscribe

I'm trying to find an image that was linked to a few days ago. It featured Wilfred Brimley with a caption of "DIABEETUS" or some spelling like that. The comment was posted as two periods, since the img tag is disabled and I can't recall who posted it.

Twas Eideteker, I think, who posted it.

I know it's terrible to make fun of the guy or his condition, but the commercials annoy me to no end. My roommate wants the image, but I can't find it.

Ahh, thanks cortex, I used the username.mefi thing, typed his name in the url, and went through his comments. I found it here.

And for the record, I love Wilford. I posted the image because I was in a Quake clan back in college called "Quaker Oats" and our slogan was "Win one for Wilford!" (Also: "Why's he smiling? [re: the dude on the box] Cuz he just fragged your ass!"). But we're all big fans and I meant no ridicule. It's seriously awesome that he takes the time to speak out on his disease and encourages others to take care of themselves. And honestly, if I had diabeetus, looking at that image would probably make me laugh so hard I wouldn't mind checking my blood sugar often. So, coming soon from The Shiny Red Ball Corp., Wilford Brimley brand DIABEETUS testing supplies, featuring that image right on them.

You will no longer even be tickled by that image once you've seen the Wilford Brimley DIABETES DANCE MIX over at the YouTube. It's one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

That DIABETES DANCE MIX is hilarious! My partner (who has diabetes) always makes fun of the MANY diabetes commercials on TV. "Food was the enemy back then" Uh, huh, Patti. Try a little less of it. "It hurts so baaaa-ad." Right, B.B. Try 36 years of finger pricks. Then the ones who whine about how hard it used to be to "code" their meters.

We always repeat WB's grumpy phrase "...stand in line!". What drugstore does he go to, anyhow, that has such a horrible line?

Bah, that's just one of many.

Eideteker, I just wanted to thank you for posting that. My boyfriend was diagnosed last month, and needless to say, it's not been the best of news. But when I showed him that picture, we both fell out laughing, and then spent an hour exploring the wonderful world of Diabeetus. Thanks for introducing a little levity into the situation.

Bah, that's just one of many.

That may be true, but it's the only one that's popechunk-approved.
