Hotlinked Dates November 26, 2006 6:08 PM   Subscribe

PonyRequest: Can the dates at the top of threads be hotlinked? Example: I would like to be able to click on "October 4, 2002" at the top of this thread to see all the posts from this day.

I would feed that pony a carrot.

Pretty, pretty pony.

That doesn't seem intuitive to me. Normally, there's a descriptive title there, it's only on old stuff that the date is shown all big like that.

I like this idea.

It describes itself when clicked. I don't see any reason not to do this.

Anywhere there's a date that is. I mean. Ya know.

Breadcrumbs would be a better, consistent solution. That I would very much like to see, navigationally speaking.

In other words (for those who don't know what I mean), for example

2002 > October > 5

But Matt's arcane archives architecture would seem to preclude it.

That makes sense, blue_beetle. So it'll never happen.

I don't think you know what the word "hotlink" means.

I don't think you know what the word "hotlink" means.

Hmmm, the OED defines it as a synonym for hyperlink, and gives its first use in 1989. It's hard to imagine that whatever other meaning you are talking about existed then.

He's thinking of IHOP's new HOTLINKS Spicy Sausages™, for a limited time only.

Hotlink.

Yeah, I know the other meaning of hotlink. My point is that it's not correct (or polite, really) to tell someone they don't know what a word means when they are using a meaning that has been in use for many more years.

Yeah--you start doing that and the next thing you know, we'll be deriding each other over spelling and grammar.
