Problem with "https" links? December 2, 2006 2:51 PM   Subscribe

Error: your link is improperly coded, please check it, and try previewing again.

I was trying to make a new post with a link to this page, but MeFi won't let me :( Are https links verboten in the blue?

At least for me, visiting that link via http instead just redirects anyway, so try it like that. If it's a problem with the word "referrer," you might be out of luck, since that seems to be a vital part of getting where you want to go.

No, you were probably quoting someone and adding a small tag around the posted by line, thus spoofing a comment post, which I block (with an unhelpful message, which I will eventually fix). People use the technique to fool others with fake comments so I block that exact order of formatting.

Actually Partial Law was correct, it works if I change https to http on the URL, for some reason.

Well, I usually make fairly lengthy posts with lots of links, but I wanted to try and avoid editorializing. Well, at least until I got to the discussion thread anyway...

This situation seems to suggest that there's a problem with posting links that have https in them. Is this deliberate or just intentional?

Sorry, that should be "Is this deliberate or just incendental?" Stupid firefox spellcheck.

Incidental or just incandescent?

your link is improperly coded

actually, the code which checks for improper code is improperly coded.

No, you were probably quoting someone and adding a small tag around the posted by line, thus spoofing a comment post, which I block (with an unhelpful message, which I will eventually fix).

hee hee! no, that particular unhelpful message reads "Your comment appears to be blank, go back and try again."

Maybe matt could make links to Benny Hinn forbidden altogether.
