new (unpublished) paper on the "red rain of Kerala" December 4, 2006 8:52 AM   Subscribe

The new (unpublished) paper on the "red rain of Kerala" was asked to be posted once it comes up. It's up now. So far I only added a comment with the link. Do you think this deserves an FPP? The previous was just a couple of weeks ago, but depending on your level of skepticisim, this could be considered a major development.

Eh? New paper? It's dated 2003. What's going on?

As my journalism prof would say, if it isn't officially released in a trade journal, but it's made available online, it's already published.

Dude, I swear it was 2006 when I last saw it.

This is the only 2006 one up there, and even that is from January. arxiv numbers start with the year and the month, and they're not changeable. Papers can be updated but that gets noted in the metadata, and there's no indication either of those have changed recently.

Yes, my bad. Please ignore.

Smart Dalek: Outside of your journalism class, "published" in the context of scientific research often means that it has, or soon will, appear in a journal that uses a peer-review process.
