Dude, you're overthinking it. Take a picture of a plate of beans with your camera while enjoying a refreshing bucket of cocks and everything will be fine.

Hmmm. Pretty quiet. No callouts, no snarkfests. All the troublemakers must be at the Portland meetup.
It could make one a bit nervous, ready to push the panic.
If only mathowie had left the img tag on...

There's 100 of us here and Matt just announced his secret plan. He's going to torch Metafilter and start again from the beginning. Only those of us here present know the location of the new, real Metafilter. Have fun over here! Thanks for all the fish!

mathowie was a total douchebag. He invited so many people that I felt like the unpopular kid in high school all over again. Thanks a lot, asshat.

jessamyn edited what I was saying to her mid-conversation. What a bitch.

cortex banned me from the party. Bastard.

I hate all of you. P.S. Thanks for the free beer, I hope everyone tipped the staff.

Yes, shmegegge, I'm a bastard. And I'm soooo going to regret this in the morning.

I got my t-shirt autographed by all the mods! Doesn't that just make me the apple-polishing geek Queen of the May?

But how the hell did I end up with this box of MeFi CDs in my car?

See my eBay auction! Original CDs, just 99 cents plus shipping!

All these people asking for pix should have just shown up! did you lose your invitation? Afroblanco flew in from NYC. Jessamyn flew in from Vermont. Me and DaShiv came up from San Francisco...

I tried taking a couple pictures but it was too dark. There was definitely at least a hundred people there and crowded enough that I found it hard to get my turn at Galaga and DigDug but a young enough crowd that I quickly made the high score on Asteroids...

Slander. I took several bites out of that donut.

But how the hell did I end up with this box of MeFi CDs in my car?

There's a hilarious story that'll I'll be sure to tell you some time.

Speaking of, we snagged $119 last night on meficomp purchases. Awesome.

Also, I waved at vacapinta like three times but never actually talked to him because he was always being attended to by attractive women.

Have a ridiculous number of drinks for me, y'hear?

I did!

I also just had a minor freakout because I haven't changed my laptop over to Pacific Time yet and was reading all these posts and thinking "oh shit checkout time was twenty minutes ago and I'm barely conscious!"

I wound up with a shirt and a box of blue sharpies. And a belly full of donuts. And a high score on Tempest for most of the night [* shakes fist at gluechunk *].

One of my favorite parts besides the obvious "meeting everyone and drinking" part was that there were some old school games that didn't have a free play option, they just had some crazy amount of credits on them. So, when you wanted to play Frogger or Tempest and they didn't have any more credits, you had to go to the guy whose nametag just said "Evil Bartender" and he would give you fistfuls of quarters to plug into the game.

Pictures forthcoming. Thanks to everyone for coming out.

Oh, his nametag said that? That's a relief. I thought he was just being a real son of a bitch to people when I wasn't looking or something.
posted by cortex (staff) at 9:40 AM on July 15, 2007

I am strangely entirely conscious and healthy, despite also helping with drinking a ridiculous amount. ... You know, for stavros.

It was pretty much the most enjoyable Saturday night I've had in a long long time. It was great to meet people. Of course, now I have to consider the fact that real people are reading my words here. Crazy.

Thanks, Matt/Jess/Cortex/etc/etc, it was awesome.

Now if I could just figure out where my wallet went.

The best part was finally meeting the cabal and learning which posters the moderators had personal problems with and whose posts would be deleted more often. That and the random wheel of bannination.

Thanks again, Matt!

Apologies to everyone I said something incoherent to, dropped something on, or forgot to shout out (most everybody)!

Free Drinks! is so dangerous (haven't left the couch yet today) and apparently so is Free Games! as my feet have a wicked DDR hangover.

So, this is a weekly event, right?
