Go back to the beginning.

Heck, just turn the stupid thing off.

Watch out... it's become sentient and has decided to get back at you for making it look at all that porn.

Thank you, sgt.serenity, but your Internet is in another castle!

i may have actually travelled back in time.

I prefer to travel forward in time; so that I can see the Future! I just do it in one second increments, and my time machine looks a lot like an office chair.

Well, if no one is going to use it, I'm just going to take all these wires and boxes with blinkenlights home and make something with them. Supercomputer, massive midi-over-ethernet music sculpture, giant killer robot programmed for world domination and crushing, I don't know. Maybe I'll just blow shit up. I've always wondered if it was possible to make a plain, dumb hub catch fire if you mis-wired it just right and slammed a ridiculous amount of data and spurious packets into it.

If there's anything you do want to keep that's connected, like your computer, you might want to unhook it now.

Does everyone like the hemisphere specific posts to the blue?
I wonder if Friday's promised podcast is only available outside continental USA.

We recorded one on Friday. mathowie finds time on Friday or the weekend to edit and publish it.

"...have we reached the end of the internet ?"

Yes.
If you click on the shutdown button, you get a page with the old-timey Windows 95 "It is okay to shutdown you computer"message. How weird is it when you realize that used to be an extra step?

I can't speak for anyone else, but my problem is that I just had my first dream about metafilter. I was reading a post and I wrote it down when I woke up so I wouldn't forget it. It said:

Animals say: I am made of meat and so am delicious. But give me a chance. So think of vegetarianism like parole for animals.

So I think I'm taking a little break from the internet. And from eating anything with sentience.

Well, it was APEC weekend and most people either went away for the weekend or were out protesting, so I imagine not a lot of people were sitting in front of their computers.

Oh, wait. You mean I can't extrapolate what's happening in Sydney to the rest of MetaFilter? Sorry, I just get annoyed when people in New York or California do that.

posted by ormondsacker at 8:57 PM on September 8, 2007

Nah, not a world-record. It was kinda rainy so they only got about fifty people to show up. (And NO, the Sydney Meet-up crowd did NOT head over to participate, so don't go trying to analyse those bottoms!)

No no no! The internet needs you... and sentience is yummy.

I always had as a rule of thumb that you should never eat anything that could read...

...until I realised that if I take my glasses off I suddenly become edible.
