Brother, can you spare some well-wishes? November 24, 2007 6:37 PM   Subscribe

In August, mefite birdlips suffered one of the most horrifying and tragic losses imaginable. Then yesterday, a lifelong friend of his was killed on the spot in a car accident. How about a little love from the hive thrown his way?

Can you fill us is on more details without getting too TMI about it? I am very sorry both for whatever happened before and yesterday. While it seems a little odd to be wishing well of someone named birdlips, I hope he is doing okay.

Wishing strength and peace to birdlips. You're a good friend for wanting to drive a little positive energy his way.

I did. Hope it helps.

I don't think i remember hearing about this before. Anyone want to fill us in?

Sorry about your loss(es), birdlips.

I'm sure I'm very sorry...

Like jessamyn, I'm wondering without wanting to get too personal what it might be that I'm sorry about?

If that's not cool to ask, that's OK. Chin up, birdlips!

(If you're still down, try saying "Chin up, birdlips!" aloud. It made me laugh, so thank you!)

I'm so sorry birdlips. Things will get better. /hugs

This feels like a very MetaChat type of thread, doesn't it?

As the English say, keep a stiff upper birdlip! Wishing you well.

I'm sorry to hear about it and also wish him well - hang in there birdlips.

It must be Bir Dlips, Bird Lips makes no sense.

Neither does what has been happening to him - sending good vibes.

Um, not that I don't wish birdlips well.. but I'm not seeing anything in the posting history talking about any of these issues. Is it really the best course of action to be airing someone's laundry if they haven't aired it themselves?

What bagelboy said. I certainly sympathize with his suffering regardless of what it's about; I just hope you secured birdlips' consent before posting this.

I'm sorry, birdlips. I've been there. In fact, I went back to college because my dead-by-car-accident friend had once told me in passing that I was way too smart not to be in school... He was a great guy, as I'm sure your friend was. Take care of yourself.

What angelboy said. This seems odd to me, and I'm not sure a bunch of sympathetic comments on a website are going to make any difference to him. But if you're sure they will, well, I'm sympathetic too.

This is weird. Is it like plucking random people off the street to come and mourn at a funeral? Or like reading a prayer request in a church bulletin from a church you've never attended? That's not what this is, is it?

Well, stranger, here goes...

Nope. I mean, yes, I feel sorry for your friend, in that necessarily distant way I sympathize with the billion troubled people in this world, but shouldn't you and your friend be looking closer to home for some flesh-and-blood shoulders to lean on?

What everyone else said. I am sorry to almost have heard about this.

What angelboy said.

Sounds like a lyric:

Bagel or angel...

I think we finally went with bangel.

Sounds like a lyric: Bagel or angel...

Okay, I'll take a stab at fleshing that out a bit:

Bagel or angel
I don't know
One got wings
The other got dough
One's in heaven
One's in your gut
Still I can't tell
What from what
Lord I can't tell
What from what

Bagel or angel, don't know which
Needle pulling another stitch
Angels dance on the head of a pin
How many bagels and how much gin

Bagel or angel, bagel or angel
Here's the plain truth, simple and pure
Bagel or angel, bagel or angel
Ain't no way to know for sure

Not bad for satrst but, well, I was thinking of Bobby Vee's Devil Or Angel--oh, man, does that date me or what ?--so you'd have to wrap it around

Devil or angel, I can't make up my mind
Which one you are I'd like to wake up and find
Devil or angel dear, whichever you are
I miss you, I miss you, I mi-i-iss you

Devil or angel please say you'll be mi-i-ine
Love me or leave me, I'll go out of my mind
Devil or angel dear, whichever you are
I need you, I need you, I need you

You look like an angel
Your smile is divine
But you keep me guessin'
Will you ever be mine?

Devil or angel please say you'll be mi-i-ine
Love me or leave, I've made up my mind
Devil or angel dear, whichever you are
I love you, I love you, I-I lo-o-ove you

Devil or angel please say you'll be mi-i-ine
Love me or leave, I've made up my mind
Devil or angel dear, whichever you are

Whether or not that's an inspiration, I can not guess. Man, I can not believe I was channeling Bobby Vee. I wish I could say the Clovers. but... Oh, well. On the other hand, the young Bobby Zimmerman once played piano for Bobby Vee, so there is that...
