AOL, Netscape do not match IE December 20, 2001 6:21 AM   Subscribe

When I try to post something on AOL or Netscape (v. 6.0), why don't I get the settings on the post box that I do on MS Explorer? Like the Bold, Italics or link button? Also, Ctrl + Shft and T (for italics) or Ctrl + Shft + B (for bold) doesn't work either.

because the browser doesn't support it. There's nothing I can do here, it's a IE/windows only bit of javascript that Netscape 6/Mozilla should start supporting someday.

a IE/windows only bit of javascript

Not to be newsy, but which part doesn't Netscape 6 support? The createRange() method or the event capturing?

The createRange() method or the event capturing?

Yerfatma, I have no idea what that means. The only thing I can tell you is what I posted on my original post.

There should be an article here, tomorrow on this code, and it'll explain the Netscape 6 bug that doesn't allow for the code to work.

Why do you bother with AOL's browser? Just open a copy of IE over it. Or Opera. Both work fine, on PC or MAC.

PP: I don't see the extra buttons in Opera 6, even if I select 'Identify as MSIE 5'

Matt: thanks for the link, I have been wondering about this.
