"xx new" links in Recent Activity? July 17, 2008 12:47 PM   Subscribe

Pony: Can the recent activity page topics include a link to "xx new" just like the front page?

When I'm in my recent activity page, I have two choices for visiting a thread: go the the top of it, or go to my own last comment in the thread. What I'd find nifty would be a third choice to go to the new comments since the last time I visited the thread (just like the "xx new" links on the blue).

In short threads or thread where I comment frequently, it's not that critical, but in a really long thread where you only make one comment near the top it would be nice to be able to come into the thread where you last left it.

Does this mean I am, indeed, a unique snowflake? Mom was right?

We could add something to jump to the newest comment but it wouldn't be entirely accurate and could lead to a lot of older replies you've already seen.

Well, that would be just like the "xx new" on the front page, so it's not like it'd be reducing the functionality.

Obligatory MetaFilter Scroll Tag mention:
Tracks your last-read comment in threads, and allows you to jump back to it easily.

You can drag and drop it to a specific comment if you like, and where you place it is saved between sessions.
For those who don't know: it's a greasemonkey script (which should also work in Opera).

And now MetaFilter Scroll Tag adds "nn since your last read comment" links to the headers on your recent activity page.
