You know the results of the latest Gallup Poll? Half the country never even heard of the word Watergate. Nobody gives a shit. You guys are probably pretty tired, right? Well, you should be. Go on home, get a nice hot bath. Rest up... 15 minutes. Then get your asses back in gear. We're under a lot of pressure, you know, and you put us there. Nothing's riding on this except the, uh, first amendment to the Constitution, freedom of the press, and maybe the future of the country. Not that any of that matters, but if you guys fuck up again, I'm going to get mad. Goodnight.

What the? They put me on the list, but for some idiotic deleted post I did?

Wow, what a great idea! Self-generating journalism web site! Why didn't we think of this before?

Next, we can make machine-generated journalism. And we can print it out, just like all these outmoded forms of print media we have now. Only instead of "newspapers," we can call these machine-generated print media publications "STEAMING PILES OF STUPID."

krautland, I need two extra pars on the LOLcat insurgency, quick. Blazecock, can you do nibs for the Latest Snarks box?

Fuck, I need to call my wife and tell her I'll be home late. Again.

Where the hell did everybody slip in all those Christmas discussions without me noticing? Is that what you all were doing in all the Ron Paul threads I never opened - talking about Christmas?

If so, I feel left out. Who wants to talk about Christmas?

from About DayLife:

Building a New Architecture for Content

We started Daylife because we think publishers should be able to easily add fresh content experiences to their sites, and readers should have more fun exploring news and other fresh content. Our ContentSense(TM) platform simplifies the complex news landscape, making it a personal, visceral experience...

Create New Experiences for Your Readers

With Daylife’s content platform, you as a publisher can easily add millions of pages and hundreds of apps to your site. It lets you give your readers a deeper, more engaging experience while generating more ad inventory. (Daylife.com is just one example of what’s possible.) You can create your own news and content experiences, matching your voice and brand, and create more depth on your site.

The Best of Science and Editorial

Daylife gathers and analyzes mind-boggling amounts of high-quality news and other content from across the web. We analyze it, mash it up, and deliver it via an API so you can query it in many different dimensions. Our platform lets you work and play with the news media itself - bend it, shape it, ask it questions… and then put it to work on your site.

See? Everybody be careful what you're saying - keep in mind that you're being analyzed, mashed up, and delivered.

Is it just me, or does this seem... odd?

This is kind of weird but worse seems to be a fundamental misunderstanding about how MetaFilter works. Following the link to "my" page on their site most of the text is lifted from the comments of the post and not the post yet still misleadingly, sort of attributed to me.

I keep reading that bit. And I keep puking. Now I'm beginning to think the two things have something to do with each other.

So this is basically a fancy equivalent of those dickheads who grab stuff from weblogs via RSS, republish it and plaster the pages with ads?

I got into Metafilter because it was always good for quirky stories I could sell to the BBC shows I used to work in. However, now that I'm in Metafilter, I have more of a moral understanding of the use of the content and tend to shy away from suggesting it. Mainly because I think honestly a lot of the information that is coming to Metafilter is gleaned third- or fourth-handedly, and therefore is actually of little value to the continuous news cycle.
