Is anyone else participating in Movember? Is there a MetaFilter team? Should there be?
Ah, something for the people too lazy to participate in NaNoWriMo.

I sure am, hence the scant beginnings of a sad little moustache....last year was a ton of fun, especially the gala party at the end of it....

And since you're doing it, check out www.movemberusa.com and support Phil. Cause that's me. Or support those other guys, but I have daily pic updates!

If I stop shaving now, by Thanksgiving I might be mistaken for a 12-year-old with a taste for bourbon.

The first time I heard of NaNoWriMo, I thought it was some nanotech wiring platform. "I can't wait for the new nanowrimo graphics cards!"
This time, when I read "Movember" I naturally thought it was some "National Mow Your Lawn Month" where we all compare tips on lawn mowing in typical Mefi nerd fashion.
I am so not Internet cool.

Sorry, can't. I am physically unable.

Check out my pics here. The first one is me after a full month of not shaving. It's still pretty weak, and doesn't connect in the middle. The rest are my daily updates for this month so far. It starts out pretty quick, but it never gets to full-fledged moustache. Sigh. And I'm 27.
It's still fun to try, even though my fiancee hates it. And it's for a good cause, too!

I just frigging shaved off my beard. Let me have time to get used to the weird looking dude who lives in my medicine cabinet first.
I might go soul patch. Does soul patch count?

jessamyn: "I will support this boyzone."
Note that girls can not only participate in Movember (sans-Mo, but can join teams and collect donations), but indeed hold a vested interest in the support of prostate cancer research: One of the most common side-effects of prostatectomy is permanent impotence due to nerve damage.
middleclasstool: "I just frigging shaved off my beard. [...] I might go soul patch. Does soul patch count?"
The official rules require you start the month clean shaven, and also say "no beards, no goatees". They do allow a tickler, however.

I have been missing Exambeard since I graduated, and I did shave on the weekend...why not?

My friend participated in this (or a similar mustaches-for-for-charity venture) last year and had to get his drivers license renewed with a new photo taken at the worst point of the growing-in phase.
THAT is dedication.

Not doing it, just 'cuz I don't feel like losing all the progress I've made towards some kind of facial hair, but ... Eideteker? Grither? Thanks. I feel much better now.

I'm going to have to go dig out the right person to give me the form, "Requisition for mustache, growing of", fill it out in triplicate, and then get it denied because I haven't completed the proper training for mustaches yet. And then I'll find out that I have to submit the form with a photo of the grown-in mustache, which won't be possible because I can't grow in the mustache without the form.
(Ask me how my day's been going. Go on, I dare you.)
Oh, and my coworkers at my last job decided I looked like a child molester with a mustache. To the point that it was all people were talking about at the holiday party. I may donate, but no mustache for me, sorry.

Bah, I shave every six months whether I need to or not. I won't link to it, but you can see last shaving if you type in "Christopher Gets Shorn" at google. I was thinking of making it into a vblog that gets updates twice a year. So about half as often as I update my personal blog.
I'd do this, but I'm not shaving again until the snow that's not yet here is all gone and it's starting to warm up again. I'd be a fool to get rid of my facial hair in November. I live in Iowa. That's madness.

We've got a bit of a competition at work. I seem to be leading the field at the mo-ment, thanks to genetics (and of course, large amounts of testosterone. Grrr.)
Oddly, it's taking twice as long to shave now that I have to go carefully around all the edges.

I hate moustaches, but all my guy friends leap at the socially-approved opportunity to grow one, so I end up giving money in the name of whoever asks first. Sorry, they were really early this year!

And as for being unable, I'm fairly sure at the end of the month I'll have a wispy patch of bum-fluff where my charity supporting Mo is meant to be, but I can live with that.

For everyone else...if you had been planning on donating to Plutor, feel free to redirect your funds my way. I can guarantee a full month's worth of Mo Grow. With daily pic updates for your ridiculing pleasure. :-)
