I been done had... January 6, 2009 7:25 AM   Subscribe

There was once a post that referenced a person saying "I been done heard that ol' shit" but I can't find it anymore.

I've seen Mefites use it from time to time on the blue but despite all my efforts I can't find it now. It went something like "I been done heard that old shit" or "I been done had that old shit"

Anyone remember this?

There's this post—Nas, 'we done heard your voice'. That's the only reference I can find on mefi for "done heard" as a collocation.

Googling for "done heard that shit" turns up a couple songs with that bit of lyrics, too, but nothing on mefi.

Cortex no it was a mefi post about some wanna be gangstaz saying some crazy stuff but the funniest one was one of them said "I been done heard that old shit." But that wasn't exactly what it was. I wanted to go back and revisit that post again because I remember laughing til I was in near tears.

I kind of remember that. Was it a Youtube video and one of the Youtube comments was "Old. I been done seen this shit"? Something like that?

I think that the post I am thinking of was a video of one person being punched by another person on the street.

ND, yeah I think that was it! I just remember MEFI going nuts over that one quote and every once in a while I still see it pop up causing me to have a fit of laughter over and over again.

That was almost exactly two years ago. Can you believe the power of my memory? Do you see what kind of hardware I am walking around with? Now I think you can see part of why I am so awesome. Brain power baby!

You better get Applecare for that hardware...you never know, you never know....

Since we're discussing how awesome ND¢ is 'n all that, can I take this moment to sheepishly acknowledge how long it took me to get his nickname? In my habit of speed reading, I saw the ¢ sign and automatically associated it with some variation of "my two cents", a presumption further reinforced by MeFi's habit of going "nth-ing" and "n number of ..." etc.

So when it finally clicked, after about a year of reading and posting, I felt appropriately stupid.

And that's your semi-amusing story for the day.

And then I found five dollars.

Since we're discussing how awesome ND¢ is 'n all that

We've really just scratched the surface of this topic. I think a great deal more discussion is called for.

I've always internally pronounced it more like "endy-cent"

God help me if I ever have to pronounce it out loud.

Since we're having this kind of thread, I was wondering if somebody could help me find a comment about having nerd moments with co-workers/bosses. A MeFite told a story about moving up in the company. The situation was somewhat touchy for political reasons I think, and when this guy met a new boss, he quoted Star Wars. The new boss replied in kind, clearly understanding the reference and its relevance to the work situation. Anyways, it was all very funny. I've been searching for this comment for weeks, with having little to go on. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

A year ago, a new franchise of my organization opened on the east coast of Canada. I had never met the owner, but a few weeks after the place there opened, my boss, the Big Enchilada for the organzaition, was going to be in the neighbourhood of the new place and wanted to meet the new guy.

I called up the owner and introduced myself, and said " Hey, J______ is going to be in town there in a week and would like to come by to meet you and just see how the place is looking."

He replied, after a brief pause, "The national executive director is coming here?"

I said, "You sound just like that guy in Return of the Jedi who said, 'The Emperor is coming here?'"

Without a pause, he said, "We shall redouble our efforts."

HOLY CRAP I"M SO GIDDY THANK ND¢!

(I've been just waaaaiting for one of those "help me find this comment" threads so I wouldn't have to post one of my own!)

I also see why my search efforts were in vain. There is no mention of Star Wars (which yields thousands of results), I don't know how to spell "emperor" (I do now), and I mistakenly conflated "franchise" and "Big Enchilada" in my mind, resulting in the thought that ricochet biscuit worked for Taco Bell, KFC, or Jack in the Box Corporate. These let to various other funny comments found, but not this particular one.

ND¢ - You remind me of the time in that comic strip "On the Fastrack" when the one dude had bookmarked every site on the internet and they decided to become an internet search company.
