Sidebar nomination: Author of Salmon fMRI paper (MeFi's own prefrontal) pops in to MetaFilter thread to answer questions. Awesome!

I think it was sidebarred a few hours ago...

Yep, it's quite clearly already there. This is a bit like Minority Report, but instead of crimes it's sidebar posts, and instead of before it's after.

No no, it's more like Memento, but instead of figuring out who killed his wife, he's figuring out who sidebarred the post.

On a similar note, the animator who created the Molecular Visualizations of DNA that I posted earlier this week has joined the thread to answer questions. Not requesting a sidebar, just pointing it out for those who might be interested.

when he posted that people could ask him questions, I wanted to respond with:

"yeah, I have a question. buh... what?"

you know, because I don't get the sciencey stuff, y'see.

It's more like my browser didn't pick it up or something or my brain has a lot in common with that of a dead fish in terms of total function.

FAIL.

I never see cool stuff before it's already sidebarred, but I hear the proper way to do this is to e-mail or memail one of the mods.

S/he answered one question. Obviously there's no obligation for him/her to answer any, but this was a rather premature callout / sidebarring, with the benefit of hindsight.
