Server might be down for a little bit to update it for the event, so if you can't connect that's probably why. :)

We also have 2 other private Team Fortress 2 servers, 2 Left4Dead servers, an L4D2 server about to be born, and play a multitude of other games -- currently about 50 of us are playing the just-released and big-fun Borderlands. We're almost 700 strong now and the community is hoppin', so if you're a gamer (or at least game-curious), come and join in the fun!

I've turned off account vetting for this Very Special Event, mostly because I'm lazy and it's Friday and I'll be drinking beer and playing the just-unlocked-in-Korea Borderlands later today.

Are there any mefi-popular PS3 games?
Other than TF2, I mean--the PS3 release of the Orange Box spews painful static from my sound system the whole time (and no, it's not my system; and no, fiddling doesn't help).

If I can get some alone time this weekend, I'm there. Will try for tonight.
And, you know, I bought L4D awhile ago and I have yet to see anyone playing on the Mefi servers. I have not yet actually played the game with other live humans.

Try joining the Steam Mefightclub group, we haven't used the servers much lately (not really sure why), but there are people playing L4D almost every day (and now the L4D2 demo lots, too). Usually around 4pm EST there are a couple folks, and then again around 11pm EST. Though this is a rather special week with Borderlands, TF2 Halloween, and L4D2 demo out, you might see less L4D1 around for a bit...

You bastards. Sure, do the whole big fighty party the week before I am allowing myself to buy a PS3.
Well, I swear, when I do finally pick it up, I'm going to log into that game, hunt each and every one of you down, and probably provide you with a good target to riddle with holes.
(I'm not very good at TF2, so just know that when you are killing me, you are just cog in the engine that is my plan...)

This is partly due to the completely broken lobby system in L4D. Which we had hoped was fixed but didn't appear to be in my one (completely awesome) run through the L4D2 demo.

Admin/bill-payer of one of the L4D servers (Spicy Brain Buffet) and soon-to-be-proud father of our First Official L4D2 server (Lukewarm Salad Bar) here...
Although the seriously inconvenient lobby system apparently is here to stay, some trip reports that I've seen on the innertubz indicates that the server search key has been fixed in L4D (and presumably the sequel) for a while now, so I encourage its use! You can get the search key either from another MeFighter or on my profile page on MeFightClub.
The only caveat, new people, is that you have to be a member of our Steam group to be allowed to access it (huzzah server flags!) so make sure to join up. Send me a memail or message on Steam if you're confused. The arcane machinations behind L4D lobby systems and servers are virtually indistinguishable from a closely-guarded oral tradition that is passed only to the Worthy, who are judged on how many times they've reset their servers in hopes that THIS time the configuration updates would fix whatever issue presented itself. I myself am only a Tier 3 acolyte.

I've recently shifted away from PC gaming and toward the 360. I play L4D there, as well as orange box, and maybe Borderlands sometime soon. craven1morhead on xbox. I just like the big TV+couch setup a lot more, though the chatter generally isn't quite as good as the mefite games.

The halloween stuff for TF2 looks super fun and would be a great excuse for me to get back with the MeFight crew after a loooong hiatus. Hopefully I can manage to make some time this weekend.

Fresh meat. Er, welcome!
For clarity (I'm not mistaken), the PC version of TF2 does not cross-pollenate with the PS3 version. I'm also not sure if the PS3 version has all of the updates (Halloween goodies and tons of other stuff over the past two years) that the PC version does.
Either way, if you have a PC that can play the game, it's only $20 at full price. Not bad for the most fun I've had in a video game. See you in the trenches.

FWIW, the Xbox version does not have the Fancy Updates. No sandman if you're on a console.
