Phoenix AZ meetup on Wednesday the 21st?

I'm doing a meet-the-family thing with not_on_display in Sun City West this week and would love to meet some folks and hang out. I've got limited free time, a lousy sense of direction, and a hankering for burritos. Anyone free to meet up for dinner/drinks in the NW Phoenix area not too late on Wednesday?

Good thing they have Filibertos everywhere!

If you'd be willing to drive a bit south, The Potate and I could drive up from Tucson to somewhere Tempe, Phoenix-ish. Last meetup I attended was at Four Peaks in Tempe and there was a sizeable crowd. Sun City is just so, so far away

I can't make Phoenix ...

Oh wait. AZ doesn't mean Astro Zombie in this case.

This isnt really about how far we're willing to drive, it's that we're in Sun City West, we're borrowing a car for a few hours and would like to spend more of that time hanging out with people than driving. I don't want to be a pill about this, but this is really going to have to be someplace either on the NW-ish side of Phoenix, or closer to SSW than that. I'm just playing the cards we've been dealt in this case. Suggestions for a place that fits this description?

There's a not-too-shabby irish pub over by Metro Center (28th Ave & Dunlap), but even that seems pretty far southeast of Sun City West. And when I say "not too shabby" I mean "not too shabby given that Metro Center in general is on the shabby side," so.. maybe I do not have the most useful knowledge here.

We're assuming we'll have to drive to Phoenix, we're just not really too psyched about driving past Phoenix. If there's a place in Phoenix that's okay we're fine with that, though can I get a burrito at an Irish pub?

I fail at reading comprehension, jess -- sorry!

Coming in from Sun City you're either take the 60 or the 101S and then the 10 E, which brings you right to the light rail corridor. The light rail is easy for SE valley people to get to, so that raises the question...where along the light rail on Central is there a place with a good patio and margaritas?

Rats. I'll miss this by a few hours.

Anyone up for Chino Bandito's? It's a Mexican/Chinese restaurant on 19th and Greenway and it's one of my personal favorite area places to eat.

Too out of the way?

Too out of the way?

I don't know where anything is, so I sort of need someone to pick and then say "great, we'll meet you there" If this is too last minute or too middle of the week, I can live with that.

Arriba's at 79th Avenue and Bell has great burritos and margaritas, and a decent patio. It's not too far from Sun City, but would be a drive from the East Valley.

Since I'm a bit new to the area, I can't really offer suggestions. I'm game for any of the suggestions already offered!

If we call it for Arriba's at 79th Avenue and Bell at 7:30 on Weds can people make that?

Hey! I can make it!

...what?

I just found out I have to work late tonight, so I'll miss it. Hope you all have fun while I continue my trend of never actually making a meetup!

Okay, can anyone make this? If not, we may call it off and just get tacos locally. Chime in before 4 pm if you can.

Yes, I am now all the way home in Vermont where it is an actual chilly 44 degrees. la_scribbler, the MeFite who I was trying to remember's name is lewistate, the guy from Iowa doing a MeFi project.

Thanks, Jessamyn! It's a chilly 58 degrees here, which is actually chilly for these parts at this time (I think).
