Does anyone remember a clip from a Northern European comedy show that had a court room drama where all the dialog is in english but completely nonsense?

I recall southern accents and whatnot... I'm pretty certain I saw it linked here on metafilter.

My hovercraft is full of eels.

Actually, that Python sketch did have a courtroom scene in it.

I recall very vaguely that this show also had a Eastern European sendup of the news where the weather girl marked everything "scorchi!" with a giant sun.

This is driving me crazy.

Was that The Fast Show?

If it's Caroline Aherne declaring the weather 'Scorchio!' (or indeed, 'Cumulo-nimbus! Disastro!'), then it's The Fast Show.

I sort of remember this too, but dont have the Fu at the moment to locate it. Could this possibly be the one where the old lady storekeeper wanted to read Dante in Italian, and just couldnt get the languiage no matter how she tried, then the young blonde (Shelly?) just picked it up and could do it like a savant?

And now it's driving me crazy too.

No, the show was not British. The joke of the sketch was that the phrases were very irregular, but perhaps natural sounding to a non-native English speaker. I'm pretty certain it was from a Norwegian, Swedish, Icelandic or Finnish television show.

Presumably because it was linked on MeFi... but probably would work better in AskMe.

Why is this on MeTa?

"Can anyone help me track down this thing that I remember seeing on mefi" questions, being explicitly mefi-related, go in Metatalk. It's one of those odd borderland things but this is the correct way to do it.

Xoder, The Fast Show was screened in the US as Brilliant! for a while -- I saw some reruns on BBC America, I think. Try searching for that.
