Pony request: including the time the last (latest) comment was posted to a thread in the Recent Activity thread header.
E.g.: "90 total comments. 62 since your most recent comment, last comment posted at 11:15 May 21..."
This would be a small improvement to the usability of that page, as it would allow someone who has forgotten what the comment count was the last time they looked to not have to scroll through long comments to see if anything has been added. (One thread I'm following has about six pages worth of text in the ten comments displayed in Recent Activity.)
I have no idea how difficult it would be to change.

Yeah, this would rule. I was thinking of making the same request but I'm ascared of making Metatalk posts.
Even better would be "last comment made X hours/minutes/seconds ago at 11:15, May 21...

One potential solution: press J to go to the next post and then scroll up a little. That will take you to the last comment for a particular thread pretty quickly.
It's not technically hard to add, we just need to discuss it and see if we want to add more info to RA. That top line feels a little packed to me already, but there might be other ways to show it too.

Maybe on the left side, under the "posted by" and above the "(remove from activity)"? A "latest comment by xxx at 12:34 PM" line?

Holy shit. I didn't know about that. It even works on my BB browser.
Is there a list of built-in MeFi-specific keyboard shortcuts like this posted anywhere?

I just learned about this one recently too, zarq. The mind-boggling thing about it is, it's not even MeFi-specific! [MINDS BLOWN]

To speak to an operator, press "0". Press "9" to repeat these options.

Ok, I've made a greasemonkey thing that adds a recent activity summary to the top of the first page of Recent Activity. It gives you a list with just the thread title and 'posted by' line of the most recent comment.
This is my first serious attempt at a GM script, so the code is likely horrible and fragile and I don't know what else. But it works for me in Firefox 3.6.3 in the regular and plain MeFi theme.
This is actually something I'll find useful myself, but I'm curious if it does the job for this pony request at all.
