Horace Rumpole and I will be in Philadelphia next week for RBMS, and we hear you guys throw a great party. Anyone up for a meetup?
We will be in town Tuesday-Friday, but we have stuff going on most nights except Friday, so that would be preferable. I could also do Wednesday if it were earlier, say happy hour-ish.
We're staying at the Doubletree Hotel Philadelphia, so somewhere within easy walking or public transportation distance of that would be ideal. And beer, beer is good, too.
Any takers?

I am always all for heading down towards my abode in South Philly, but Royal is a pretty good hike from Broad and Walnut, and not convenient to any public transport.

So any chance of leaning towards Friday (June 25)? Although really, if someone wants to drink with me on Wednesday *and* Friday, I'm game. I just have to be back at my hotel by 8:30pm on Wednesday. Friday is wide open.

Indeed. I can't suggest anywhere in that area--anyone else have a better idea? And is there enough interest for a Wednesday happy hour meetup + a Friday later night meetup? It sounds like there are 2 people plus (maybe?)our guests for Wednesday....

I'm free from 6-8pm Wednesday (tomorrow). Horace may or may not be able to come Wed., but we are both free all evening on Friday.
We went to Good Dog yesterday and I'd certainly go back. But I trust Mefites' judgment, so as long as I can get back to my hotel easily I'm up for any food/beer/cocktails type establishment.
We brought our MetaFilter t-shirts, so we need to use them!

Also, if peeps want to do South Philly on Friday, the South Philly Taproom is pretty great and never seems to be that busy... maybe I just go on slow nights.
I am also a fan of Sidecar/Grace, but they get crowded.

I'd be totally okay with thirding South Philly Tap Room for Friday.
Out-of-towners: Hop on the Broad Street line going south. Make sure it's a local train, not an express. Get off at the Tasker/Morris stop and exit at Morris Street. Walk south two blocks, turn right on Mifflin, walk 1 1/2 blocks, South Philly Tap Room is on your right.

I'll be there but am taking a mental health day tomorrow (spent hours in this heat today on a suicide prevent doing a walking escort with a client to a crisis center across town, fuuuuuuu) so I won't catch any updates, someone text me if anything changes.
