Has there ever been a question on the green with such great responses that it spawned a post on the blue?

And would this be frowned upon?

Nope, not really. And yeah, it would be frowned upon. MetaTalk would be a more likely place to highlight a great thread at Ask MetaFilter.

I'm fairly certain people have learned about things in AskMe that became MeFi posts and it's not at all problematic from our perspective unless the post to the Blue is a part of some larger "look at how stupid this person is" campaign. Here's one that I found. I am sure there are more.

Oh, I may have misunderstood you. Yeah you can't say "look at this great AskMe thread" as a MeFi post, but there have been some posts on MeFi inspired by AskMe.

Yea, I was thinking more about inspiration. Not "look at this post on the green" but "this thing on the green was awesome and made me want to post on the blue".

Yeah, what they said.

Bad: "hey, readers of metafilter, check out this question over on ask metafilter."
Fine: "hey, readers of metafilter, check out this awesome link or collection of links about this interesting thing, oh and I found this stuff via this askme thread".

For the straight-up "hey, this askme thread was really notable" stuff, a post to Metatalk is the way to go.

As long as nobody objects to me LINKING TO ONE OF MY OWN POSTS, I had one of these one time. (And I'm sure I'm not the only one who greatly misses jonson. What a wonderful contributor he was.)

Really my only objection is dragging an argument from one thread into another. Maybe not so much with that, please.

I was just making a joke, not trying to drag out an argument. Sorry if it came across that way.

How did these people got their cats wedged into their scanners, and why?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who greatly misses jonson. What a wonderful contributor he was.

I also miss him but see him popping up from time to time over at Flickr with his adorable kiddo, so I'm happy to hear the Big Blue Room is treating him well.

Here's a post inspired by a comment I made in AskMe.

I suggest we call them 'prunicorns'.

Someone posted an FPP a while back about paracord weaving that I'm almost certain came from the epic AskMe requesting what-the-internet-is-for websites. (I'd dig them up and link to them, but I'm on a slow library computer with no tabbing. And I'm lazy.)

This post about the proper care and feeding of cast-iron cookware was inspired by this Askme post.

This one on Lesch-Nyhan inspired by this question.

Has there ever been a question on the green with such great responses that it spawned a post on the blue?

This doesn't exactly answer your question, but these two questions sparked a few days of net research into learning Japanese language, poetry and culture, which inadvertently led me to a set of videos... that became the focus of this FPP.

Also, if you want to go skimming, here's every mefi post that contains "ask.metafilter.com". Backlinks galore, though at a glance it's hard to guess how robust the average connection is.

I had one of these, about Stephen Fry. I asked the question, but did not make the blue post.

Although with 126 favorites, I kinda wish I had.

Yeah, I made a MeFi (re-)post from one of the answers in a question I asked.

My lone Blue post came after a lengthy reply about search and rescue dogs in an AskMe. If that counts for anything. :)

I still remember those rescue dog videos. Rescue dogs!

This front page post of mine grew out of the great answers in my related AskMe question.

Is this really a bad thing?

This post of mine which is one of my favorites came from reading another user's username and wondering what it was about and Googling and oh ho!
