Where have all the kitties gone? December 8, 2010 1:28 PM   Subscribe

One of the reasons I joined MeFi was because I was reliably informed there would be kitty pictures. I have now seen posts regarding cats WITHOUT photos of said cats! This shit must cease! I need kitty photos! PS I pride myself on being both vague and nonsensical so feel free to delete if need be.

Hey, I'm still jonesing for pictures of bunnies with pancakes on their heads. Ah, the good old days...

pentagoet isn't communicating very well here, but she does have a point. As I understand it, when one makes a blog post (or AskMe post) about one's cat, one is obligated to include a photograph of said cat. It's Internet Law.

Maybe you want this one, from the deep archives? http://www.metafilter.com/53/

Browsing through those old posts, it's a bit surprising how little some things have changed since 1999. We were talking about the hype around Apple's new portable device and watching Steve Jobs netcasts. Look, the first single-link video post! And JavaScript tricks are the old HTML5. But I suspect that mathowie may finally have gotten a Mac and managed to use a Mozilla browser.

YAY CAT THEME SONGS! I have three cats, two of whom have theme songs. The other is more a poetry kind of cat. And sometimes, I modify other songs to be about the cats. Like TMBG -- my sweetie caught me singing/speaking to the tune of 'Why Does the Sun Shine?":

The cat is a ball of furry purring mass
A gigantic organic furnace
...
That turns kitty kibble into ca-a-at crap
At a temperature of dozens of degrees.

The cat is large
(so large, that each cat is over 12 inches long!)
The cat is warm
(so warm, that it leaves a cozy warm spot on the bed)
The cat is far away
(so far, that I cannot reach it with my arm)

Oh crap, I believe this may be all my fault. I made a post about my cats today, and forgot that it required pictures. ;)

This is Weasel, the fat cat whose need for weight loss made me post an AskMe. This was a couple of months ago, and he's put on weight since then.

This is both my cats, engaged in an epic slow motion catfight.

And because no collection of cat pictures is complete without a silly hat, this is Oliver in a pharaoh hat.

Here comes Kitty Claws
Here comes Kitty Claws
Right down Kitty Claws Lane
Scratching and hatching kitty cat plots
In his kitty cat brain
If you do just what he wants
All will be merry and bright
But if you don't you better watch out
Cuz Kitty Claws scratchin' tonight

Horace is an utterly shameless camera (and cuddle--you can tell the guys of the house are on each other's side) whore. Which can be kind of a bummer in that my little cat Trudy who is camera shy and sucks up all the light and is pretty much the most unphotogenic creature ever never gets any internet love relatively speaking. Many impromptu songs are sung about them, of course.

Dogs too, why not (these are the ones my husband grew up with, they don't live with the cats!).

Put your paws up!

Up on the couch
Takin' a nap
Doin' my own lil' thing

You decided to dip
