I posted anonymously to ask me and the advice and help offered, though some of it was very harsh, strengthened me to get out of a bad relationship. I read through the post over and over again when I start to weaken and it empowers me to stay strong. Your advice agreed with the advice of all my real world friends, but they were getting tired of reiterating it. Having the thread to re-read is powerful support. Thank you everybody! I'm in a safer, healthier place today than I would be without the support of many strangers on the internet.

Yay! I'm glad you're getting through it ok. That kind of anonymous question can be really frustrating from the answerer's side, and it's great to hear back that we, collectively, helped out in a concrete way.

SUPER YAY. So glad to hear.

We're also quite useful if you ever get locked in your own room!

Actually, my cat locked me out of my bedroom once and I had used my question. Long story...

And let my add my voice to the chorus of congratulations. The best advice is sometimes the hardest to take, and it sounds like you made some difficult decisions that turned out to be the right ones. That is the best outcome anybody can hope for.

AskMe has long served as a useful check on my behavior. We totally need WWAMD* t-shirts.

As cool as a WWAMD t-shirt would be, I don't think it can replace my old stand-by of asking what noted sociologist and Pan-Africanist W.E.B. DuBois would do.

I was so stunned by the answers to my own anonymous Ask question that it propelled me from years of mostly lurking to wanting to participate all the time. Even though it was years ago I still go back and look at that thread from time to time and I still shake my head at how impressive the answers were. There are also some people who I will just always like because of their answers, and can't help it, even if I found out later on we might not have compatible personalities or politics or whatever.

I, too, am an anon who successfully D'd their MF after being advised to do so on AskMe. Looking back at my own question, it's amazing to me now how I couldn't see what was so obvious to everyone else.
