Anyone up for some Me-Fi fantasy football?

I'm looking to get together a league, probably using Yahoo! unless someone has a better (and free) alternative.

I'm looking for 8-10 teams, but anymore than that and I think the rosters begin to get a bit diluted.

Also, I love the thrill of a live draft (online), so people who can/are willing to do that are encouraged as well. I think we could draft in a couple of weeks.

Other than that, the rules are pretty malleable. Respond to this post or send me a MeMail if you're interested. Thanks!

For what it's worth, I believe there is a currently-ongoing league over at MefightClub, but I am not up on the fantasying or the footballing, so I leave others to elaborate on the current status of it.

Ok, but this time I get to wear the helmet and shoulder pads.

I am interested. I am also looking for an NFL.com fantasy league if anyone has one going.

My advice: draft Gronkowski.

I also am interested.

I'm in. We did yahoo last year, worked alright - but I'm not tied to any particular site.

I'm trying to restrain myself to one league this year--but if I change my tune, I'm totally in.

me too if there's still space. Yahoo! is probably the best of the free sites, with an interface infinitely preferable to ESPN where I also play.

Is there a mefi fantasy hockey league by any chance?

I'd be in for a mefi nhl league biochemist.

I think the MFC football thing was actually a baseball thing. Whoops!

nathancaswell: "My advice: draft Gronkowski."

Which one? (Just kidding, I know exactly which one you mean.)

I created a league on yahoo called Mefite Pigskin Club, the pass is "mathowie". I chose the defaults for the head-to-head style, with autodraft. If someone else wants to create another league with a real draft or whatnot, feel free it won't hurt my feelings and I'll probably join that one too.

Maybe I'm missing something, but there is a recent post about the MeFi Fantasy Football Challenge here. Or is this one of those football/soccer things?
posted by Deathalicious at 6:57 AM on August 8, 2011

Deathalicious, that is about soccer/football, this is about American Football.

If by Live Draft you mean a weekday morning while normal people with normal jobs are at work that would be done by the time I have to leave for work around 2 then I'm in.

Also, does anyone have a Pick 'em league started yet? Because that was good last year and if nobody's started one I'll get on that.

This took surprisingly long. Fun fact: Soccer/football is a false dichotomy. There are several (somewhere between four and seven, depending on how you count) different games that are all simply called "football", and the game that you're referring to is generally assumed to be the dominant one in the region. Association football (soccer), Australian-rules football, American football (and Canadian and Gaelic), and rugby (both union and league) football.

Joined. Somewhat obvious based on user name here - but I'm Cari Out of Control if you need to match up people/MeFi IDs.

Ooh, yeah, I'd probably join a Pick 'Em league.

Okay! I've set up a league at Yahoo!. It's called Gridiron Therapy. The ID is 431416.

I massaged the rules a little bit to punish really bad kickers and defenses, but other than that, they're pretty typical.

I have a live draft scheduled for Saturday, August 28th at 130pm EST. If you can't make it, you can still set it up so that the computer picks the player of your choice available.

Please sign up! It will be fun!

Awesome, thanks!

Is there/what is the password?

The password is watchmen. The cap is set at 10 teams, so if you're interested, jump on in!

wilful: " Where is Rugby Union known as football?"

According to Wikipedia's very detailed article, primarily New Zealand.

What do you think the 'F' stands for in the 'RFU'?

I think it would be wise to amend the title of this post to emphasise that it's an American Football fantasy league.

I'd love to take the last spot if it's still there. Been looking around for a good league the last couple of weeks. And I'd love to attempt to better my second place last year (hah).

Ok, Pick 'em League is set up. Group ID#: 16154 Group Name MeFi Picks Good password is bacon. Because I love bacon. But that's not the point.

Dropping the 2 week's lowest scores and picking with the spread in mind. Go sign up, it'll be fun and not as time consuming as having a "real" team to worry about.
