Send me sent MeFi Mails? September 26, 2011 5:52 PM   Subscribe

I'd like it if I had the option to also send a copy of the MeFi mails I send to my main email account as well as those I receive.

I like to keep all my email organized through my Gmail account. While I can copy what I send and paste it into a mail to myself, it would be handy if I just automatically sent myself a copy when I sent or replied to a MeFi Mail, the same as I get a copy automatically (by how my preferences are set in my profile) when I'm sent a mail. Any chance of getting this into the line for feature development?

I'm pretty sure we have discussed this in the past and usually the line is that we want to keep MeFi Mail as lean as possible and not have to recreate Gmail, so we omit tons of features. But I thought we were going to add an option similar to this with a checkbox to cc your email if you wanted (unchecked by default and only appearing if you had a verified email on file).

I would feed this pony a shiny apple. Or Zune.

I'm going to call the official word a... maybe?

I do see the objection that the range of possible feature requests for MeFi mail is essentially limitless, so where does it end? In this case I do sort of see it as more completing a feature that's already part of it... I appreciate the consideration anyway.

P.S. what's up. MeTa is super punchy tonight. Are you people drinking on Monday?

No. We're still drinking from Friday.

This already exists on the Contact form, where you can get a copy of the message you're sending Team Mod sent to your verified email account. Would it be too much to also implement it for sent MeMail? Or is that too much overhead or something technical that I don't fully understand with my little bear brain?

Oh yeah, so I confused this with the contact form feature. So we do that since there is no other copy of what you write.

But, anything you write in mefi mail will always be in your sent box, so you can get it at any time. I think we're going to skip this feature since it duplicates existing message storage and pushes down the path of too many features in mefi mail and recreating Gmail.

So sorry, it's a no.

I would like to receive occasional MeMails that are like 'Hey, box, lookin' good! That thing you just did? Terrific! You're totally going to finish that other thing before the deadline, too! Also, you're a good person!'

Maybe the frequency and subject matter could be adjusted with a series of checkboxes.
