It's that time of year (at least in my hemisphere)... Did anything like this metafilter Chili Cookoff ever happen?
My work has one coming up and it made me think of how metafilter has probably done this and/or could do this in the future, probably even better. If there's interest I'd be glad to host a google doc or participate or something....
Also, feel free to post/memail me awesome recipes if you're feeling frisky. Bonus points if you incorporate the fresh tabasco/habanero/dalia peppers I have growing outside (yay, Florida!).

It's always chili weather. Despite what my wife says. She thinks I'm crazy. But she also doesn't like vegetables on her sandwiches. Or eating chili when it's not cold out.

Chilly chili is chill, but non-chilly chili also fits the bill.

My chili will make your entire intestinal tract a hostile environment for non-beneficial microbes. It will test your fortitude & heat-tolerance, as well. Beans are an adulterant, and are for the weak. I will commit the recipe to paper on request, as it currently lives in my head, along with the voices.

I think Team Austin should have a chili meetup at Devils Rancher's.

I made Cincinnati chili mac last night. It's a recipe I found in Google Books' scanned copy of Cincinnati Magazine from 1999. It's not exceptionally spicy. True chili enthusiasts would probably write it off as essentially sloppy joes, but it sure is tasty.

How funny, I have chili cooking in the crockpot right now. And I've never made chili before, and haven't gotten out the crockpot in about four years. Smells good.

I would be up for an Austin chili cookoff. Or a cookie chilloff.
