Formatting gets messed up

On some threads, at the bottom usually, the formatting gets messed up, i guess it's some tag people put in, but i don't see it. after the switch happens i can no longer post in the thread, although i have seen other people continue a thread with bad formatting. just wondering what it is, and, if it's a bad tag, maybe people can start closing them.

its caused by the auto tag closing code, which is meant to fix things up when someone leaves a tag open

if a post contains the <> characters there will be an empty closed html tag like this: </> appended to the end of it, causing the page formatting to break, just like this

ok, so i hallucinated the not being able to post part, there is no way to fix it after it happens though?

That's no bad code, that's just the "keep rhyax from posting anymore in this thread" tag. There is an equivalent tag for every user. Useful for banishing trolls, perverts, or people whose names offend you.
