Is there a plan for a thread tracking feature? July 8, 2002 3:27 PM   Subscribe

It struck me that it would be useful to mark interesting threads for tracking so I checked the MetaTalk archives and found that the idea had been raised originally back in the mists of time and then followed up much more recently. And yet I still don't know if it's been forgotten, abandoned or taken on board as an urgent priority. Would a "Features in Progress" page help? Or be a nagging schedule?

I don't think it'd be a nagging schedule. It'd just be another list sitting around. Everybody figures out quickly enough that Metafilter development is on no particular schedule other than Matt's free time and motivation. This particular feature comes up pretty periodically.
I know I've seen Matt give this consideration as a feature for the vaporware probably-pay Metafilter "Pro" service, so it's in the back of his head, but probably won't happen anytime soon.
Fooljay created a nice alpha application to do this sort of thing that I was playing around with for a while, and then I torched my bookmarks. But he's changed domains, and it's still not mentioned on his site at all, so I can only assume he didn't develop it any further.

Solution? Use your own bookmarks *grin*

Didn't Neale create something like this a while back? It was still in testing at the time, I think. (Or am I just nuts?)
