MetaFilter Club on Strava? November 3, 2015 9:24 PM   Subscribe

I was recently looking to add MeFites on Strava to give myself a bit of extra motivation, but noticed that only 20 people have Strava listed in their profile. So, being the proactive guy that I am, I put together Team Metafilter over there and am hoping some of you would like to join up with me. I am a runner, but cyclists and others are more than welcome. Go team!

Great idea! Just joined up so you can all judge for my laziness and my fatness.

Cool! Don't record my cycle school run/commute every day, just on occasion to see if I'm getting faster, but maybe being on a leaderboard will change that...

Joined, as I need some more motivation for cycling.

Cool I'm one of 20. I feel so exclusive.

I mainly use Strava to keep this map tool thing updated so that I can see if I've covered every street between work and home, but I've not been cycling much recently.
This might help?

Hey, this is a great week to join since I rode waaaay too much this past weekend. So I look amazing! Go me!

EndsOfInvention, Strava added a new feature recently that lets you tag your commutes separately from training/whatever rides, so you can separate them when looking at what you've done.

I joined up as well. Hey, I'm killing it on longest activity, but part of that is because I did so poorly on a marathon last Sunday. Tomorrow begins the recovery runs! Most of my distances are also done with my wife's dog, so he usually features prominently in my profile photo.

Nice touch with the team icon.

Hmmm. I'm recovering from a broken leg/knee and have been pretty slow about getting back on the bandwagon. I had a lot of fun with the last Metafilter exercise thing I joined - maybe this will be the kick in the pants I need.

Off to dig up my Fitbit and see how well it all works together.

I joined, tho I only use Strava for cycling and Runkeeper for all other stuff.

Hm. Do I join and sit at the bottom of the board? Y'all are intimidating!

o hai I should get better about updating to Strava anyhow. Ride volume (weekly hours) is considerably lower than usual this time of year because it's the heart of cyclocross racing season, but check out the IF (aka suffer score) for my weekend races and you'll know why :)

Ooh, ooh! I'm not! I suck! Join and defeat my pitiful carcass!

There is no reason at all too feel intimidated, by the way. The leaderboards are broken down by total time, total distance and longest activity. There is no ranking for speed or anything like that. Besides we are all very friendly. :)

how do you get to the page that shows mefites within an app? I don't strava, but I do mapmyfitness (mapmyrun / mapmybike?) and I'd like to add mefites there.

You use the social explorer, that's how.

I'm just sorry I wasn't signed up two weeks ago when we took our biking holiday.

Signed up; I wasn't sure what exercises qualified for accumulated time on the leaderboard; it looks like cycling, running, and swimming count, but not weight-lifting or walking - both activities I was interested in increasing; however this is a fun group and I'll give it a go;

Thanks for creating this;!
did you see what I did there;?;

I joined! But I expect to be near the bottom of the leaderboard for a while, until I finish with rehabbing my calves and hips.

I'm loving seeing rides and runs from all over the world. This is great.

I got some kudos for me weekend ride from y'all, which made me feel good, but it was undeserved - I was riding through wine country with friends, and we kept stopping to stuff our faces with delicious things.

I'm such a fraud. Out of shame, I didn't even record the 35K ride I did the next day.
