Looking for a comic I saw on MetaFilter November 11, 2015 10:58 AM   Subscribe

Several years ago (three years, five years, maybe more...) someone posted a comic here that I'm trying to find again. I'm not sure if the comic was the subject of an FPP on the blue, part of an answer on the green, or part of a comment on the grey. I'm hoping someone can help me find it again.

The gist of the comic, as best as I remember it:

* About a young man who went to (I think) Stanford
* After graduation he had trouble finding a job and making ends meet
* Had to hide from his roommates because he was behind on the rent
* Was working at a bakery (?)
* Decides to become a blue-collar worker
* At the last minute, gets a temp job somewhere involving computers and is introduced to the Internet
* The last few panels are several years later, he's a successful web designer

One thing I distinctly recall is that at one point he's about to type up something (a resume, the beginning of a story..?) on the back of his diploma. I believe there was also some digression into how he and his friend used to read OMNI magazine when they were kids, but I could be conflating that with something else.

I don't remember if this was a standalone webcomic, part of a larger story arc, or a non-webcomic that was scanned in and linked to.

Hopefully someone else remembers this and can help me find it again.

Yes, that is it exactly. Thank you. Done in one, as they say.

I blame the pagan coffee cups. And IRFH, but that's just a given.

I love that comic so much. When future cultural historians are trying to explain how worldviews changed over the course of the 1990s, they can point to it.

THIS PANEL RIGHT HERE -- that's literally how I thought the world would operate when I grew up -- how I imagined things already did operate. I just didn't realize until Patrick McFarley showed it to me.
