Oh no, you guys didn't get the domiKNITtrix item (or at least I don't see it in your posts)? I was so looking forward to seeing what you came up with on that one. The ones I saw from other teams were so creative and/or hilarious! (put me on the list for fiber art resources if something like that ever comes up again and you need a pair of hands!)

kjs4 is our knitting maven and looked at it and flat out refused. One area in which we’re at a disadvantage is that we mostly all have full time jobs - it means the super labour intensive items have to be ruled out.

My entries are pretty atrocious but they do exist -- because of a problem, I wasn't able to log into Dropbox to share. Let me know how else to provide images and I can share my deeply daft entries? (Except the Skittles watercolour portrait of Jensen Ackles. I am showing that to no one. It is terrible and its very existence brings shame to my family.)

Every year a few of us join a kind of art scavenger hunt in which a b-list celebrity puppet master makes us humiliate ourselves in a variety of ways. These are this year’s results.

Halation--check your memail. This is mothra :) I'll get your stuff up on the Tumblr!
In typical GISH fashion, they took the item list out of the app when the hunt closed. That made tracking stuff down for the Tumblr a lot more complicated than it needed to be.

Well, crud, I missed that we were doing this! Another friend posted on fb that she was looking for Skittles Jenson, (she didn’t even know who he IS!) and she was fresh out of the hospital so I made my family bring me Skittles and made her THIS. Next year, I’ll try not to miss the Mefi post!
Note that Skittles were kind of weirdly like gouache, with subsequent layers reactivating (and lifting) the first layers, so I couldn’t get really good darks. Also, if anyone wants this thing I will mail it to you but I warn you it is sticky.

I was also very happy with this Molotov cocktail of kindness - part of a day of zany photoshoots that included this steel wool muffler, which we shot in Steel Park with a team member doing ‘Blue Steel’ because we are trash.

I made the mistake of choosing a reference photo that had Ackles in his red-and-black-check flannel shirt. It, uh... it didn't go well, due to the phenomenon you describe. My desk is still all sticky, and the giant pile of pigment-leached ghost-Skittles that my efforts left behind made my compost bin smell rank indeed, and, of course, there's the ants...

Ha! That one was hard. I recorded each word seperately, reversed the audio (with a handy iPhone app), transcribed it phonetically, rehearsed it (while recording it to check the audio), and then we recorded it. It was kind of like music - tonal. I could have done better with more time. We did about ten takes.
