I'm confused.

I'm confused. A humourous story with environmentalist overtones I had posted to the front page of MeFi vanished within about 20 minutes. Does this sort of thing happen often? And if so, why? this was the story: http://www.cnn.com/2002/US/West/12/19/monkey.pants.reut/index.html

Apologies. I searched for the url, for 'monkeys', 'monkeys in pants' going back a year and didn't see it. Could you point me to the original posting? Thank you.

I think it got deleted the first time, mb01 - maybe check in lofi? I feel for you though - doing a search using the word "monkey" around here is a real exercise in futility ;)

It says right on it. It was a month old, and one of those "oddly enough" stories that is just dumb fluff that news agencies like to run. It's not very interesting or worthy of discussion after the initial chuckle.

mb01 - Lofi (which iconomy linked to) keeps the front page with your evaporated link, so that you can click on it to get to the page that Mathowie linked to, which carries the reason it was deleted. Don't feel bad - after 10 posts, I finally ran up against a double post today, I limited the search to one year, I should have gone back further.

It's only a funny news piece if you attach humorous significance to pants. I don't find pants funny myself, they're just something I wear to keep my doo-dah hitting people in the face.
