Nice mention of Metafilter in the Nashville Scene.
Cool. I would have missed this otherwise. The modestneeds site has really grown. It looks like a pretty cool little web-app they got over there to handle everything.

Thanks for the post; I remember the original thread, and it's great to see how much the site has taken off since then (and the hand that Metafilter played in it!).

From the article: Metafilter: a site that gathers items of interest from Web pages around the world
I like that. Although I would have described it as: a site that has members that gather items of interest from web pages around the world. I don't think that MetaFilter is gathering the links on its own. Or is it? I'd hate to think that MetaFilter was somehow prompting me to post links to sites about balloon hats or sites showcasing portraits of Ernest Hemingway that were made from millet and peppercorn seeds. I'd like to think that I found those sites totally on my own.
MetaFilter: The all-knowing, all-seeing automatic link harvester that allows you to labor under the delusion that you have some semblance of control over your posting habits.
I know - it doesn't exactly roll trippingly off of the tongue, does it?

I was also pleasantly surprised to see what happened after I posted this (personal website by a guy in Baltimore trying to save his neighborhood from drugs and crime). Here is a description of what happened following the post (big page - scroll down to picture of the package of Oreos and site stats chart).
