Double your fun March 5, 2001 9:10 AM   Subscribe

it seems an awful lot of us regulars click-through to double posts, just to see how they will be handled. it's interesting, because a double post creates a whole new dynamic. we don't want thread-related discussion going on over there, but we apparently enjoy and even participate in the double post related discussion. do we need a name for this phenomenon, or at least a sniglet? other thoughts?

The way I see it, double posts - especially after being identified as such - are pretty much slated for the chopping block. Most of what goes on in the threads after someone points out the first post is enjoyable antics.

They're rather inoffensive, there's some pretty good wit - especially as the mystery of DoublePostGuy continues - usually the occasional funny piece, and posting tends to die down around the tenth comment. They're a pretty good spot to let out the silly, basically, and it's fun to see what some of the funnier people in our community come up with.

I agree, but as a one-time double-poster, I wouldn't be offended if a sysop deleted my double post and released me from the embarassment.

I don't know about this Twice_Posted_Lad entity.

It's not necessarily that one's better than the other (though Haiku is, uh, the best possible way. To break the bad news, no?) but there's no need for two.

Not to mention this Twice_Posted_Lad character's a mean bastard.

Nice one, cC. :)

note: the "mean bastard" comment was said with an (unseeable) grin on my face. I don't think TPL's a bad character, just an unnecessary one.

(thanks rodii :-)
